Router Confusion - Another which router thread...

It is worth looking at the small Triton even as a 1/2" router as it is a lot lighter than the big one. I personally would avoid the 1/4" even for hand held and just get a lighter/lower powered 1/2".

Router Confusion - Another which router thread...

I can't recommend the big Triton as you have said it will be mostly for hand held use and there are better routers out there for that (perhaps the smaller Triton would be a better bet)? That said, I love my big Triton in the table. Ideally you may eventually want two - one for the table and one...

    Plane Advice

You don't mention budget? You will no doubt get a lot of people telling you how bad Stanley planes are now and that you absolutely, positively, must have a LN, but with some fettling and attention almost all planes will give reasonable service. Just have a search on this forum to see the...

    Festool and Retail Price Maintenance

This is the kind of statement I was hoping to avoid with my earlier post. We should be careful not to comment with such finality - if for no other reason than to protect the forum we all enjoy using so much.

    My ultimate Workstation Design

Chems I'm not sure if you understood my point (apologies if you did). With the saw blade in place, you would not be able to run a long board over the router. The opposite (using the saw) would, as you say, be fine as the router cutter can be dropped and the fence removed. Are you planning on...

    Festool and Retail Price Maintenance

I would like to remind people that Festool have not been shown to have done anything illegal at the present time and we should all remember that when we post. This entire thread, and others that have come before, are based upon the assumption that Festool have fixed the prices of their products...

    Festool and Retail Price Maintenance

As a few have pointed out, any action would require the OFT to act based upon complaints received from members of the public. Personally, if I think that the Festool is over priced in comparison to the Makita/Bosch/DeWalt then I don't buy it. If I don't buy it, neither Festool nor the retailer...

    My ultimate Workstation Design

Hi Chems A few things I would think about if I were you... 1) The table saw in that position would interfere with running long boards over the router table - although the model is without dimension, I can see that it would cause problems for any board over a few feet in length. 2) I would...

    Festool and Retail Price Maintenance

First of all, can I say that I do not own any Festool products however I would be happy to consider them if: A) They were within the budget I had set for that tool purchase and B) They were higher or similar quality and performed the job equally or better than the competition It is my...

First Table Design - Feedback Wanted

A couple of four legged options. Not to my taste though.

First Table Design - Feedback Wanted

I remodelled the table design with a thinner (1 1/2") top and thinner legs (also 1 1/2"). I also removed the central pieces to the underframe. The trouble is I can't decide which I prefer now!!! I did try this but immediately didn't like the look so I never went far enough with the model to...

First Table Design - Feedback Wanted

Chris I had wondered if the legs at least were too heavy for the piece overall, especially with there being eight of them. Similarly, the 2in thick timber would make for a very substantial and heavy top. Perhaps I will try a quick redesign with reduced thicknesses in the major components. The...

First Table Design - Feedback Wanted

Hi Chris The table top measures 14 inches along each edge (6 for the outer corner pieces and 4 for the central pieces) and is 2 inches thick. The legs are 18 inches in length, measuring 2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches deep. The rest of the dimensions were designed by trial and error until I...

    Good magazines / Books

I would second the Collins book as good for covering the basics (and an interesting section showing different woods in the first chapter). I would also agree with PaulR about podcasts. The amount I picked up from watching The Wood Whisperer has been invaluable.

First Table Design - Feedback Wanted

Hi All This is my first attempt at designing something myself - let me know what your thoughts are. The wood is going to be Walnut and Oak, the top is constructed using sliding dovetails (I like the visible dovetail at each side) with the entire top sitting in recesses on the legs. The lower...

New Triton Setup - First Impressions

It would appear so. I don't have time to have another check now but setting up the blade (vertically) in the manner suggested by Triton (i.e. against the rip fence when set at 0mm) left the blade not cutting square to the table (as confirmed when I checked the blade using an engineers square)...

New Triton Setup - First Impressions

Yes, my chances to use them properly have disappeared recently with an unplanned move down to Hawick in the sunny Scottish Borders. I plan to update this post when I get the chance.

Dewalt D26410/Metabo SXE450 Dust Extractor Connection

I seem to be having a problem with connecting the vacuum to my Dewalt D26410 ROS (the same as the Metabo SXE450). I tried connecting the hose via the black plastic connector used for the fabric dustbag and it fitted snugly between the inner two rings but kept falling back out. I then tried it...

New Triton Setup - First Impressions

I actually forgot to do that when I assembled the unit for the first time - I did remove it later when I realised. A point I would like to make here though - Triton design the 235mm circular saw for use in the workcentre - yet there is no easy way to fit and remove the riving knife - meaning...
