    Bringing goods from the EU

Quoting myself.... On reflection, my addled old brain is telling me the appropriate document in AWAC's case is the ATA Carnet rather than the Carnet de Passage. ATA Carnets are for temporary imports of goods such as commercial samples or tools and are used worldwide (with a few exceptions)...

    Bringing goods from the EU

In the old days you went to your local Chamber of Commerce, left a hefty cheque as a returnable security and they gave you a multi-page document called a 'Carnet de Passage' upon which you listed everything you were taking with you - electronic demo equipment worth several thousand pounds in my...

    Bringing goods from the EU

Here's my experience of NHS vs Private Healthcare: When my late wife was first diagnosed with cancer it was in an NHS hospital. She received initial treatment via the NHS until I cleared it with the private health insurer I had with the company I worked for. Once I got the OK, her treatment was...

    Bringing goods from the EU

Well, if we are to believe TV series like "Yes Minister" and "Yes Prime Minister", and more recently "The Thick Of It", our government is run along similar lines, with most of the real power wielded by (unelected) Permanant Secretaries and their many minions.

How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

Well, that was a completely unnecessary cause for concern for us old fogies - on top of everything else.. Those tw*ts at that German newspaper should be ashamed of themselves.

Is the opioid death toll a thing in all of western society?

About ten years ago, while my daughter was living in Canada, she had a nasty fall at speed off her bike. She was in severe pain and was prescribed OxyContin. She told me later that she took one and it made her feel so wierd she threw the rest away. Now, my daughter was a bit of a free spirit...

I find it hard to understand how any of the amateur experts on here can read that and then argue otherwise. But they will.

    Invasion of US Capitol building

Classic. I criticise, you characterise me as some kind of foaming-at-the-mouth deranged liberal. Mate, I'm just a 70-year old crusty popping in from the workshop while I take a break from me woodturning. But of course you know all that, you're just having fun with a bit of trolling.

    Invasion of US Capitol building

I have some very good friends in the USA and have been over there often on business and for pleasure (although not for a while now). Still keep in regular contact. I think the reality is that the genie is well and truly out of the bottle as far as guns are concerned and even though most of my...

How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

Somebody commenting on the Bournemouth Echo website about the transfer of covid patients to the Nightingale hospital in Exeter (because our hospitals are full) says it better than I can: "Has the penny dropping for you deniers yet? Or is every gasping patient, grieving family member, exhausted...

How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

To add to this (for you doubters): I've just seen on BBC South Today that hospitals in Bournemouth and Poole are now full and Covid patients are being transferred to the Nightingale hospital in Exeter. Scary times. Still waiting for my vaccination letter.
