    7.5hp 3 phase spindle off domestic 240v

I'm more curious on this one, but could you use a static / rotary converter to power a 7.5hp 3 phase spindle off a 240v supply?

    Steam bending strap alternative options?

I was looking at the Veritas steam bending strap, but at over £90 it does seem rather pricey. Does anyone have any clever suggestions as I was thinking that you could just improvise with galvanised strapping and cutting the stock slightly over length to ensure it's tight between the wood...

    Maple alternative for steam bending?

Aside from beech (not a fan of the grain) can anyone recommend an alternative light coloured wood that is suited to bending. I've been laminating 1.5mm into 12mm and using a form, but far too time consuming and steam bending might make a product I make more viable. I know I can bend European...

    Understairs cupboard and drawers

That's what they said it was. Regardless, it is very nice looking veneer.

    Understairs cupboard and drawers

Good point. I like to see birch ply end grain, but I have to agree on that 👍

If it's any consolation, it took me nearly a decade to actually do mine 😂

    Sold my first project today

Very nice. That's been my main reason for not returning back to the tools after 20 years. 95% of people want something for nothing. If you can find those that pay more because there is a face to the individual that manufactured it then I think it can work.

    Wanted Combination Machine Single Phase

I recently missed out on the bargain of the century. A Hammer C31 on Gumtree (genuine too) for £1300. Sadly, I was the 2nd one to enquire and as you can gather. The first guy didn't refuse. I digress 😭, but life goes on. So posting on here in case anyone knows of either a Hammer or a SCM...

Any tips for spraying Morrell's pigmented lacquer?

Clear lacquer is a dream to spray and for that I use a 1mm needle and get great results. It's the pigmented stuff that's tricky. I'll make a note of Sayerlack for future projects. Overall I'm pleased with the results, but if I was doing it for a living I'd want the results more consistent as...

Any tips for spraying Morrell's pigmented lacquer?

Yes. I hadn't really used it before. It certainly made me realise just how much temperature affects viscosity. A cold can in the garage, compared to said can stored in the airing cupboard was about 30 seconds.

Any tips for spraying Morrell's pigmented lacquer?

Thanks. I eventually purchased a 1.8mm needle, but found that thinning the product down and using the 1.4mm gave the best results.

Any tips for spraying Morrell's pigmented lacquer?

If anyone else has sprayed morrells Fastmatch pigmented waterborne lacquer using a hvlp spray setup. Can you tell me what needle size you used and did you thin down the material. I have the standard 1.4mm needle, but when I did a viscosity test it took 60 seconds to run through and therefore...

Any tips for spraying Morrell's pigmented lacquer?

A follow issue that I am experiencing today as well is that I have loads of micro bubbles that don't pop and dry in the finish. So yesterday was the product not flowing out level and today it is micro bubbles. Tried everything today to get rid of them and in the end gave up. Same finish too...
