Curved Ply Part For Campervan, Help!

Another idea would be a contrasting overlay of brushed aluminium or stainless steel. This would match the probable SMEV hob/sink you will be using. You could also tie it in with some tambour doors on top units. This is a factory fit corner unit in my Eriba caravan to give you an idea. Are you...

How do you feel about the safety issues? Should it be allowed?

All I'm getting is a load of adverts, and then finally the film, she is wonderful. Colin

    Moving a wood burner.

Everything you need to know should be found in "Document J", as attached. I'm sure you will enjoy reading it. Colin

Prepping a soot-stained wall prior to repainting

You could also try an oil based primer, which could then give problems when you emulsion the wall. Instead of the emulsion a flat eggshell could be an alternative as you can wipe it down. Another alternative would be stabilising solution as sometimes used before applying exterior masonry paint...

    Heating question

Thinking outside the box, you could get a "dead" fridge and use this for your tool store. Colin

    Allen Socket Screws

A bolt has a head for which you need a spanner. A machine screw is generally slotted for a screwdriver. Bolts are not generally fully threaded whereas machine screws are. Machine screws are also only available in smaller diameters. You do not usually see them greater than M10. I'm 62 and have...

    Elektra beckum tf100 spindle moulder

I had one of the spindle moulders and liked it. I do not recall ever seeing an option to set it up with a router collet. If you did find a way of doing it then I doubt the rotational speed would be high enough to run the router bits Colin

Band saw blade - cobalt m42

I taught Secondary School Technology and was recently talking to my old Head of Department. These are the only blades he buys now. He is very impressed with them and says they are worth the price. Colin

    Quotation help

I always started a consultation with, "If you can buy what you want ready made, buy it, as this is going to be a lot more". I'm going back over 10 years on my labour prices. I used to keep a crib sheet of up to date materials prices, so that bit bit of costing the job was easy. I would then to...

    Work Gloves

I've used the cheap Toolstation £1.50 a pair thin rubber palmed gloves for some years. They are excellent when machining timber due to the added grip and I even used them outside in the cold and wet when playing bowls for a couple of winters. Palm Gloves Colin

    Cabinet material for outdoor kitchen?

I'd be interested to know how expensive the Marine Plywood is. It is designed to withstand salt water contact for many years and used to be eye wateringly expensive. I would be very surprised if a builders yard sold it. They are probably trying to sell you a WBP [water and boil proof] generic...

    Cabinet material for outdoor kitchen?

What you are planning is normally found in the washing areas of caravan and camping sites. The preferred material is a solid laminate, such as Trespa. High-quality HPL panels | Trespa International This is used for the campsite shower areas and in sports complexes and swimming pools. I've also...

    Council charges and DIY refuse

Sounds like nothing unusual to me. Throughout the country councils have always ran different systems on recycle and refuse, be it collection or drop off at a site. Colin

Straight edge for jointing, best method

If the edges are parallel when the timber goes through your jointer [I'm guessing you mean thicknesser] they should be parallel when they come out and ready for final adjustment with a nice sharp hand plane. This is how I've always done mine. Colin

Types of MDF for bookcases and kitchen cabinets

I have made my bookcases, kitchen and open display cupboards out of any MR mdf I can get at a sensible price. The kitchen units are obviously melamine faced, the others finished in acrylic eggshell paint. I always plant a M&T frame on the front of Poplar/Tulip wood as otherwise I think the...

    Router Cutters - Which Manufacturer

I'm guessing the Erbauer are the bottom end and I doubt you'ld notice any difference between the other three unless you did a long comparison run on cutter performance over 100's of feet. I doubt you'd be doing that, so buy with confidence. In the highly unlikely event you cannot get the profile...

    Unwanted emails

I have an old talktalk account that I have not used for about 12 months and it gets spam. I set up a g-mail account about this time last year and I don't think I even get one spam a month. I must be lucky. Colin
