I use a respirator with disposable filters (maybe every 30 days of use). Think mine is a jsp one. About £25 or so.

It’s well worth a look at Hexhamshire hardwoods. It’s an amazing place and the guy that used to run it (Richard) is really really helpful. Not sure if he still works there or not. Best to call first to check they are open before you go.

Thanks for the reply bingyman. I think I’ve understood you correctly, do you mean you’d effectively have a frame with the glass held in place by 2 screwed on rebates inside and outside and further secured with silicon where the glass touches the rebates?

That’s brilliant thanks Robin. Yes direct glazed. I hadn’t thought of using silicon that’s a good idea thank you. In terms of the sill would this involve using a slightly wider piece of timber for the bottom of the frame and then adding some sort of chamfer so water runs off?

Hi Jamie, these beads are nailed on into plasterboard beneath but looking at the photos it looks like depth of plaster on top of the bead is quite thick so you may get away with a screw (which would sit further proud of the surface than a nail), any nail will do though, doesn’t have to be...

If it were me I’d be looking to get a second hand record/Parkinson etc of the second type. No particular reason other than I like older tools better and they will probably will outlast some of the modern ones sold by Axminster and other outlets.
