    Reading handwriting.....

I read it as a T, however, on closer inspection, there is a small vertical line to the left of the main vertical stroke, which has no other reason for being there. As the location can be indentified as Hinckley, I think that is a fair assumption

    Youtube !

I watch pretty much all my tv through a humax freeview recorder (which I was lucky to find for £10 a few years ago), I record pretty much everything I watch, so skip through all the adverts, I also find it very useful for fast forwarding through shows. It tidies all the episodes of a series...

    New tools?

have never used kraftform, but I have had a set of wera diamond screw bits with my drill for at least ten years and have only broken one bit in that time, excellent

    New tools?

A was given a tool tote from aldi, loads of pockets, including one that runs right the way down the length for a saw, which seems pretty handy.

    fixing into 12mm MDF

I would glue a baton of wood on the inside of the box and lid, then screw through the mdf into the baton. Not sure if that fits with your design?

    Bluetooth speaker

I've got a home made stereo that sits in my kitchen an gets used every day. Homemade Wooden Case, reused oval speakers from a tv, amplifier board and bluetooth mp3 board sent from china, some push buttons, I power it from the mains, using a 5 volt transformer salvaged from something. All in, I...

Are standards necessary / useful in the UK?

Standards are good, protection for everyone involved, common sizing etc etc, what is bad is nonsensical beaurocracy, where common sense is overlooked for the lack of the right box ticked, the right form filed etc. If everything is efficient and safe everybody wins

Childrens Toy Shed; Reclaiming My Shed

I like the steep pitch of the roof, can only help to keep it dry. As a storage shed, I would have gone for more of an outdoor wardrobe, double door on long side, pent roof rather than apex, as far as I can see you shouldn't need to step inside the shed at all, space for feet is space that could...

japanese toolbox, do I need a bevel on the wedge?

that's a nice idea about the padlock, not seen that before, luckily I've not had to lock up any toolboxes before, but nice to have the option

japanese toolbox, do I need a bevel on the wedge?

having never made one, I wasn't sure whether the horizontal pressure was enough for a firm lid, or whether it also needed the vertical pressure of the bevel(s) Can I ask does your lid have a carry handle? Also, do you wax or in any way lubricate the wedge, or is that just over egging the pudding?

japanese toolbox, do I need a bevel on the wedge?

in case people don't know what I'm talking about, this image shows the principle, the piece sticking out (the wedge) has a slight taper, so when it is pushed home it locks the lid some variations have a carry handle on the lid, I'm thinking that any beveling of the wedge (and other pieces on...

Is Ronseal Worktop Oil ok for Chopping Boards?

I can't honestly say I know for sure but my assumption would be that if were food safe it would be labelled as such very clearly, as it would be a selling point. you could try their customer services, or looking up a data sheet on the product

japanese toolbox, do I need a bevel on the wedge?

I was planning a variation on a japanese toolbox, the various designs I've seen online are roughly similar in terms of the lid, except that some have a slight bevel on the locking wedge, and others leave it out. Is it nessacery and what angle is best? thank you
