    Boiled Linseed Oil

I've only ever used on tool handles, my process, which others may feel is wrong, is to dilute the first coat 50/50 with spirit to help it draw right into the wood, I normally put it straight on with disposable gloves (if you put it on with a rag a good half gets lost into the rag), wait 20...

What is the name and optimal screw placement for this common workbench leg setup?

I agree you always want to screw through thin into thick, however I think all the wood in the picture has the same dimensions, hard to see properly but that is how it looks to me

What is the name and optimal screw placement for this common workbench leg setup?

not quite sure why this would be the case? it would all be stronger, albeit heavier, if there was additional wood put in underneath each joint so the weight was bearing on that piece and not just relying on the glue and screws, overkill perhaps

    Parkside speed clamps

i wasn't impressed by their speed clamps, had a pair of the larger ones, one broke with light use within a month (specifically the plastic surround of the mechanism cracked around the screw), I've had no problems with the lidl f clamps (nor the aldi ones, which are identical but in another colour)

    Gate construction lore ?

I always worry about the water being channelled down the diagonal brace and being trapped at, or near, the joint, I can't see any way around this though?

Evolution SMS210 sliding mitre saw - a small problem is a big issue for me!

I'd try some extra long 8mm bolts, in throught the manufactured holes on the saw, straight through the 10mm hole in the bench claw, washer, then 8mm nut under that. or am I missing something? also the video on the link in the original post says 8mm fixings are supplied so something has got lost...

Festool HK55 worth it for a newbie Circular saw??

from what I've gathered from the opening post you are just breaking down sheet goods so only needs moderate accuracy, you could do that with pretty much any circular saw, save your money for tools or materials where you'll see a benifit

    T-Stack Screwfix

in some other markets you see 'fatmax tstak' which would be easily distinguished from 'deep pro', 'shallow pro' etc, I also note that occasional irwin items are identical to dewalt, for instance drill bit cases that fit into the tstak caddy system.

    T-Stack Screwfix

to the best of my knowledge 'dewalt tstak' and 'fatmax pro stack' are entirely compatable, where as 'fatmax deep pro' (and presumably the shallow variant) are not compatable with tstak/ pro stack even though they are a near identical size. I believe that the lift out bins that come in the tstak...

    Glue spreader?

I use a silicon pastry brush, with the bristles cut short so it is all a bit more solid, pva rinses off instantly, or picks off easily when dried. Also have a few pieces of milk bottles or similar, cut into cards with a combed edge

    Drill Driver Set?

i agree, the adaptors seem a bit of a gamble. That said, I thought makita batteries had over discharge protection which is why they cost a few quid more than dewalt where the protection is in the tools. I'd have assumed the makita ones were safe to use in adaptors because of that. Proves what...

    Drill Driver Set?

Interesting that you recommend einhell, i have a hedge trimmer and reciprocating saw that have both been great for the money, but I bought a garden strimmer that is utter utter junk, I,ve rather been put off the brand. they certainly seem fairly well priced and as I have the batteries I may...

    Drill Driver Set?

two tools, two batteries, one charger, no need for an additional charger for that setup. the original post was for a twin set for under £200 to replace ryobis, so we are obviously talking DIY use, any brushless, li-ion set with reasonable specs from a known brand will meet DIY use with ease

    Drill Driver Set?

is that not primarily because bosch have such a limited range?

    Drill Driver Set?

either of your original choices would be good choices, they are brushless with good torque, and meet your budget, i'd probably go for the milwaukee

    Allen Socket Screws

I've never understood a clear distinction between a screw and a bolt, particularly in terms of a machine screw. I pretty much come down to does it connect with a nut? if yes then its a bolt, but I'm not sure that is right?

    Trig formula for splayed box

the trouble with a mock up is transfering measurements still allows a lot of room for compound error. It certainly helps you think in 3d, but I would still expect error and so overcut and finesse

    Trig formula for splayed box

I think if you rely too heavily on maths in practical applications you have two problems firstly there is always a good chance you have forgotten to factor in an element, so you'll cut your piece and the realise it doesn't fit, secondly any minor mismeasurement leads to a compound error and you...

friction paste? non setting glue? does such a product exist

would never have thought of lindseedl oil, I'd consider it in the lubricant catigory, do you treat it in a similar fashion to contact adhesive, ie let it dry of before closing things up?
