Using a router to make dowels

I've never tried making dowel holes with a router, so feel free to discount my responce, but I would stick with a dowel jig, £10 should get you something usable. My reasoning is this, a drill is designed for moving straight forward (ie making a hole) a router is designed for moving side to side...

    Plywood for tool wall

Perhaps a better solution for maximising space is something like this... taken from this video Google Image Result for https://i.ytimg.com/vi/7s4t68HVkCQ/maxresdefault.jpg

    Plywood for tool wall

A neat a tidy solution, certainly keeps dust and fingers out. The only problem is that it essentially takes up the same wall space, you cant put anything on either side or the doors can't open. Also it isn't modular at all, so if you want to add (or remove) a tool from the collection you...

    Random- how many sockets?

Ideal world, you'd have as many as possible, a double socket every meter or two. In reality, the only restrictions are cost and most importantly the safety of supplying to all the sockets. Hypertheticals are pointless, work out what all your kit draws, what is the most you could conceivably...

    Your opinion about logos.

Interested to know if you've costed up having a batch made in china for instance, logo included. As I see it you are stuck in a catch 22, you can't make it for less, it won't sell in great numbers unless it costs significantly less.

    Tear out when drilling holes

that looks like quite a bit of kit, does it clamp and tack at the same time, like an elaborate stapler?

    Tear out when drilling holes

that looks a nice little jig, however I find it odd that when making the 'pacman' pieces he says they don't need to be perfect, in my mind the whole point of the jig is that the mouth in those pieces is as perfect a 90 degree cut as possible, measured precisely, cut, sanded, remeasured and...

Pair of compasses, to hold a pencil?

nice technique here, possibly a bit more rouch and ready than you are looking for?

    Mad idea?

I've only seen it used on benches as a hardwearing easily replaced top, but I don't see why not, nicer than a plastic veneer on chipboard

    Tear out when drilling holes

As you've brought the subject up I was wondering why tearout was an issue on a jig, in my mind tearout just looks a bit ugly, not an problem on a jig?? Ply is generally considered more stable, so I assume would be more accurate and would possibly hold a truer angle. personally any kind of jig I...

How does one construct a metal shed with no instructions?

I assumed the osb was to form an internal wall, so you'd still have the metal outer. If rats are a worry, what are you doing at ground level?

    Tear out when drilling holes

normally I find tear out more an issue when the drill punches out to the other side of the wood, which I would overcome with a sacrificial bit of board / wood clamped to the back. By the same logic you could drill a hole in a sacrificial piece and clamp it to the front. A lip on the...

How to remove a carriage bolt from a post without damaging thread??

thanks for the response, do you need to have a nut in place first to tidy up the thread after the deburrer, or does the deburrer leave the thread in a usable state?

    Mitre Saw

I have the basic, non sliding, evolution saw. It is absolutely fine for the money, I wish I'd spent a bit more and got the sliding model as the larger bite would give more flexability of use. I use it on a board set up with fences on either side, but I would consider the evolution stand, I saw...
