    Machine transport

Well landylift transport would be ~£500 so that ones out! I'm fairly young and reasonably fit but the bigger issue is that my van is a camper, not a work van. So whilst I can fit big stuff in, not super keen on manhandling close to 200kg into a fairly well treated (and valuable) van, especially...

    Machine transport

Any suggestions on best (reasonable price, good chance machine arrives undamaged) way to arrange pickup and delivery of a Planer thicknesser? Around 150kg machine but other end of the country from me. Seller isn't willing to put it on a pallet... I do have a small van but no lifting kit, figure...

    Arbortech review advice

Ive got a mini carver with mini-turboplane and a full sixed turboplane. Good things if pricey. Hard to really "plane" with the mini carver but useful for tight spaces. The turboplane is a little scary but the surface finish is pretty impressive if you take care.

    Cunning idea needed

Blutack (or Whitetack) might work well for this. Simple + cheap option. Used often in scale modeling to mask 3d surfaces pre painting. Just test a bit beforehand to check it doesnt go into the grain.

    Working with Bamboo ply

Not sure like for like (google says similar density to birch ply) but at least in theory, its stronger, so you can use thinner panels.

    Working with Bamboo ply

I made my campervan interior from bamboo ply, partially CNCd, partially hand finished. Its v nice but quite hard to work with (at least for me vs birch ply). Yes, splinters a lot on cross cut, v hard on tools too. I found repairs difficult (hard to colour match filler). Might just be my skill...

    3D printing, where? Any suggestions

Featherboards are fine in PLA. I have loads Ive made from thingiverse files. PLA is printable by many people / operations and is cheap. Dont overspec on the material unless it is really needed.

    3D printing, where? Any suggestions

Shapeways is a good option for the high quality stuff where accuracy and material matters, postage is a lot tho. If you dont mind it being a lower end material / rougher print lots of other suppliers - just google (3dhubs is one).

    Wagner universal paint system

Id check other views too before passing it. I was quite happy with its performance for my needs as a DIYer. Like I said an aerosol can of the same paint also gave a textured finish so I strongly suspect its just a characteristic of the chalk paint (which Im not familiar with - it was a test...

    Wagner universal paint system

Funnily enough i used this exact system last week to spray chalk paint on some MRMDF. The finish is far from smooth (lots of texture) but I suspect thats more due to the paint used than the tooling (same paint from a rattle can is also quite textured). I seriously doubt its good enough for a...
