    Simple Burglar Alarm for Workshop

Dampdog2013 is an e bay seller who does kits. Both my alarms are based on his box. Alarm input is a 12v DC feed, so can be adapted to work with PIR, switches etc. the siren he does is pretty loud, although I have used his output to fire up a much bigger one through a relay.

    Simple Burglar Alarm for Workshop

You could probably repurpose a car courtesy light switch to work on the door with a relay and big horn for something really simple, although unless you incorporate a latched relay then just shutting the door again would turn it off. And if you do use a latched relay then once activated someone...

    Staining 'oak' filler

Problem is the filler and the wood will likely behave quite differently. So if you match the bare wood then once you finish it the filler will probably look a completely different colour.

90 degree joint for lean-to roof joist

As you should. As Jake says it's not some skyscraper. Fair enough for anyone to point out ways in which it might have been done better, but to suggest it won't last a year is nonsense. Enjoy.

    Simple Burglar Alarm for Workshop

I have beams across the door outside, but important to cover inside as well. I have a pir positioned inside so if they don't fancy the door, pretty solid with big padlock and 5 lever locks top and bottom, and decide to try through the roof or walls the pir will detect that. Big horn that is...

Thin 0.25mm guitar string type wire

Use the reverse of that method to pass wires through bellows type rubbers you get on cars, typically between the doors and body. Pipe in, once it is out the other side push the cable through and pull the pipe out.

Most comes in hard and soft grades.

    Staining 'oak' filler

I would be cautious trying to get a match at this stage on bare wood. If it is going to be finished then the finish will alter the colour, almost invariably making it darker. Better IMO to put a bit of finish on so you establish the colour, then fill and tint to match.

    Putin is a loser

I was wondering what it would change it to, and rather surprised it was ok. As you say perhaps not a term familiar to our American friends.

Old knackered Karcher K7.20MX 1.034-850 Pressure Washer

I wonder whether at least some of it depends on your water, is yours hard or soft ?

    Putin is a loser

I think religion is a good analogy. Looks good on paper in many cases, love thy neighbour etc. It's when people get involved and come up with extreme interpretations that it all goes pear shaped. No different on the right of course. Extremes rarely a good thing whatever the subject. No one...

    Putin is a loser

Loads of companies made copies of that design including Harley Davidson. Either Kawasaki or Yamaha started out by making a version of it. Funny to stick a bantam alongside an older MZ, like a TS. Same engine but BSA mirrored it to put the gearchange on the right, rather than have Johnny...

    Putin is a loser

Even more daft is the fact that we didn't want anything to do with it as reparation, "silly little car with the engine in the boot". I think production only finally ended in Mexico in 2005/6 :-)

Thin 0.25mm guitar string type wire

Wow, just can't imagine plucking something that thin, wouldn't have thought it would be very good for your fingers. Guess that's why I am no musician :-)

    Ply lining recommendations.

Water resistant flooring boards are designed for use in bathrooms. They can withstand water very well. I have a piece that I use to kneel on in the garden etc. Often forget to take it in. Has been sat out in all weathers for a number of years and still pretty good.

Advice on Jet Washed Timber Cladding

Never heard of rubbing it on. Mixing it up in a bucket of water and spraying it on definitely.

    Ply lining recommendations.

Never can understand ply or OSB. I always use T&G chipboard flooring sheets. You can get moisture resistant or plain. I usually use 18mm but thicker ones are available. Cheaper than ply or OSB and gives a nice flat smooth wall. Just lay them on horizontally and stagger each row like bricks. No...

Thin 0.25mm guitar string type wire

Isn't that rather thin for a musical instrument wire? Loads of sellers on EBay, just look for 0.25mm steel wire.
