Advice on running electrics to shed

I recall seeing one at a H&S presentation. One of the round type lightweight plastic cased extension reels. Someone had apparently run a fan heater from it whilst mostly still wound up, until they noticed a funny smell. The thing was basically a solid lump of melted plastic with a bit of cable...

And If the OP wants to spend north of £500 on buying new parts, then that is up to him. The very fact that he has started the thread suggests that that is not his preferred choice, for whatever reason. The point of threads like these is to help the OP by suggesting other approaches, and saving...

    US Election November 5th

Not much scope for debate with someone who either cannot read, or chooses to deliberately avoid the question asked. Maybe you could have another try Who benefited from Trumps decision to withdraw from the agreement with Iran, please share with us why that was a good move. As for Kim, does it...

To turn the end of your threaded rod you will need to protect the threads from the jaws of the chuck. Best to use a four jaw independent chuck if possible. Then get a suitable length of copper plumbing pipe and split it with a hacksaw to make a copper sleeve for your threaded rod. This will...

    Kitchen Cooker Splashback

I had mine made by a local metal fabrication company. 2mm thick stainless with a 10mm folded return at each side. Far better quality and much cheaper than most off the shelf ones.

    US Election November 5th

Some very strange stuff here. I'm assuming the third world tribal lunatics you refer to are the Afghans. Do you know nothing of history. These people kicked us out of their country, when we were still a global superpower. They showed the USSR the door as well. It was Trump that gave up the...

    Uses of old petrol

From the days of my youth, very long ago, I seem to recall four star was reasonably ok in a lighter if you ran out of the proper fuel :-) It was my son's mate who put modern unleaded in his not long ago when he ran out, smoked like crazy.

Very sorry to hear that. I think I may have been the only one to raise an issue with meths, purely on the basis that I had never used it because I was concerned about what effect the colour might have. Clear from other posts that it isn't an issue.

You should find the basic turning fairly straightforward. Screwcutting is a bit more complicated, but still not that difficult if you approach it methodically.

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

Indeed, very droll. But what do the prices look like? You have to be a registered user to see them. I hear stories from people who work within the NHS that the sort of ridiculous prices I referred to are commonplace, like £250 for a four legged wheeled stand for a drip bag. So, if that is...

Several options. Your existing thread doesn't appear to be trapezoidal. You could use a length of threaded rod in M20x2.5. To get your smooth end turn down the end to say 13mm. Make a sleeve nominally13 ID and 20 OD and fit it to the end, press, glue, weld loads of ways to attach it. Then make...

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

Logically by running procurement on a national basis, rather than by individual trusts. So next year the NHS needs in total 5000 new hospital beds, 50,000 uniforms etc etc. Invite tenders and make sure the prices are reasonable by employing people who understand these things, and can arrive at...

    Uses of old petrol

If you try putting regular petrol in a Zippo lighter the clouds of black smoke show why you don't want to use it in a Coleman.

Sedgwick MB rise and fall damage

The only vaguely similar process I am familiar with is gun barrels. One traditional method for rifling was to have a hardened mandrel machined as the male profile of the rifling. The barrel was then passed over this and essentially squashed onto it thereby forming the rifling on the inside, and...

Plus whatever they want for the screw. So simple I grant you, but rather pricey. OP has a metal lathe, so I would say go for it. Get some mild bar to practice on first, but should be pretty straightforward.
