    FC 32

I find the whole ‘32mm system’ too fussy; I make the cabinets the size they need to be, and put the hinges where I feel is right, and use thenLR32 for the shelf pins. 🤷‍♂️👍

The standard Festool LR32 router sled for the Festool ‘holey rail’? Yes, that’s the one. 👍 Edited to add - if you follow the link you can see that clearly.

No, it’s about £140 Only works with Festool routers though.

Securing a tracksaw rail to bench dogs

Insulting? You’ll have to explain that to me; I’m simply pointing out that, whilst I agree the rail square option works very well, it does require a Benchdogs or TSO (??) rail square, which is a significant outlay to many - double the price of a commodity MFT top, for example. And the Dave...

Securing a tracksaw rail to bench dogs

The rail square works very well - I used the MFT dogs in my portable bench build - but at the risk of stating the obvious, this is a pocket-money option for the folks that don’t have a rail square. 👍

    Mouse sander VS orbital sander

    U It’s a great sander! 👍👍

Good resources for first wardrobe build

Alastair at Freebird would be my suggestion too - we’ve known each other for a long time - though worth noting perhaps that he has moved much more into advice for guys in the trades, setting up and running fitted furniture businesses with all that entails eg full size CNC machines, spray booths...

Sense check for MDF wardrobe door build

I switched to 22mm after issues with 18mm bowing, wouldn’t use 18mm on a door of that size, personally.

    Festool CTL Sys Feedback

I bought the CTL Sys for exactly that reason. It was OK for light sanding and sawing, and cleaning up, but pretty hopeless for anything like easifill - the bag clogged very quickly, you’re better off with the midi for that. It’s the weakest of the Festool extractors, and doesn’t have variable...

    FASTenon's

I think they’ve missed a trick by not making them 6x30 - they’d be much more useful for carcass construction where a 15/15 plunge saves a few headaches. Not a huge fan of hammer-in fixings personally, but there’s nothing else like it for the Domino. I wouldn’t be too sure about the gluing aspect...

Bargain Alert - Ikea £1 Aluminium Extrusions - DIY MFT Style Clamping

You have a couple of weeks to nail yours together Rob, to beat me to it! 😂👍

Cabinet construction and mounting ply shelves

1/ If sides /ends are hidden the glue & screw. I’d domino/ biscuit for alignment, but whatever works… 2/ 15mm is plenty. My woodwork teacher at school said that 1/8” (3mm) would be enough to support the whole school... 🤷‍♂️ 3/ Not sure I understand, but if you mean supporting the front edge of...

    Passion or Profit?

I ran my business from a 6x6metre workshop for ~20years; it’s a question of taking on jobs that are appropriate for the space you have, and minimising the machinery you need. Of course more space is good - I’d have killed for 8x5 metres - but as always it’s a question of balancing what you’d...

Drilling 35mm holes in MR MDF for concealed hinges

Is it green all through, or just a green core? All through it’s probably Caber, maybe Kronospan. Haven't used Caber for years, but all the MR I’ve used does the ‘pencil-shavings’ type of cut. 🤷‍♂️👍

rail square or mft for diy

Accurate 90° yes, for repeat widths the repeat stop would be worth having. I did a video about the pros and cons of rails squares vs MFTs here - might be worth a watch. 👍

Advice please on a 125mm orbital sander (corded)

Yes, that’s one of the big plus points - you get a 5” RO sander with a 5mm stroke. Backing pad was a generic Mirka clone from an eBay seller, fitted perfectly. 👍

Drilling 35mm holes in MR MDF for concealed hinges

I just use a bog-standard hinge boring bit in the pillar drill, nothing special about it. Never had any issues clearing the debris - MRMDF should still cleanly without any fluffiness. Was it branded MRMDF?

Advice please on a 125mm orbital sander (corded)

The Sealey and the Hyvst are great sanders. Not a fan of abranet personally, but there are plenty of alternative mesh abrasives out there. 👍
