DIY panic: hanging foam-insulated lining paper - wot glue?

Readymix tub paste - I like Wallrock for trickier papers/surfaces, though in the past I've used whatever regular tub paste my local supplier had, without any issues. HTH Pete edited to add; with readymix you can use a paint roller to apply it - makes it a lot easier!

£5-600 to spend on tools - what do you think of my list?

I"m very fond of the Bahco 6" combi squares - they're under a tenner apiece - or you can pick up used Moore & Wright 6" engineers squares on eBay for about £20-odd. And remember; a cheap clamp is always better than no clamp ;) hth Pete

New cordless drill / impact driver choice?

Agree; also, the OP hasn't said what model he bought - maybe it was one of these and he got himself a bargain...

How to Choose Blade for Mitre saw?

You could try thinking of it as 50p per tooth, if that helps ;)

How to Choose Blade for Mitre saw?

Yep. Bought a Freud blade to use while my 80 tooth Festool original was being sharpened - still using it... Pete

Pocket holes burnishing - blunt drill bit?

They're available for about a fiver. Or get a genuine Kreg one for about 15 quid from Amazon - comes with a free mini jig :) HTH Pete

How to Choose Blade for Mitre saw?

You can often find that a local tool shop or timber yard offers access to a sharpening service, usually on a weekly turnaround - it's how I get mine done. Otherwise a quick google for 'saw blade sharpening uk' throws up a number of mail-order possibilities. Also noticed someone on eBay the other...

Is Ryobi Brand Decent? Buying a sliding mitre saw

Always thought of them as 'light trade' - a bit better than the own-brand DIY shed stuff - though as the parent company (TTI) also owns the Milwaukee and AEG brands I think it's pretty clear where Ryobi fits in that lineup... Pete

    Festool CT17. Advice please.

CT17 is the old Protool VCP 171 re-coloured as a Festool, and is still an L rated dust extractor AFAIK. Specs are comparable with the Festool CTL lineup, you just don't get to latch systainers onto it, obviously. HTH Pete

    Carpenter's pencils

Staedtler classic black & yellow school pencils for me, though I have a couple of Caran D'ache Fixpencils that I like to use when making work notes and sketches.

Festool TS55 plunge cuts vs. advertsing

+1 - it's a 'circular' saw, after all; jigsaw or multimaster to finish the cut, as required. Also, OP needs to make the distinction between 'advertising' and 'reviews' - they're quite different things. Cheers, Pete

    Crowd funding - any experience?

Yes, exactly that. Yes again, absolutely. You can shoot & edit in 4K and distribute in HD. You can shoot in 4K, run the raw footage through a free app then edit and distribute in HD. What you can't do is shoot in HD, then make it 4K later - just like you can't take SD and make it HD. Which is...

    Finished today

Very nice. Re. the painted oak - the client gets what the client wants, right?? Maybe they felt that the smooth finish on painted MDF is too 'manufactured' for them, maybe they wanted to see the grain of the wood coming through the paint? Or maybe they just wanted painted oak - not everyone...

    Bedroom wardrobe - WIP

Hi. Grass Dynapro are heavier duty soft-close drawer runners, available in either 40kg or 70kg ratings. Dynamoov are lighter-duty (30kg) runners, and 'Tipmatic' is their push-to-open variant. I like Grass runners, haven't used Blum though many people swear by them - the Blum Tip-on...

    Professional forum?

Fun thread - manages to upset, offend and amuse just about everyone, in equal measure :) And kudos to Cornish for maintaining his defensive position throughout - if he ever fancies a change of career there's a job for you at Arsenal, lol! +1 to everything Dr Bob wrote further up as well. FWIW...

    Festool Domino 500................

As mentioned above, pretty sure the pin model was discontinued when the paddle type came out. UK model no. for the current (paddle) type is 574327 - I'll have a look at mine (pin type) later and see if there's a number on it. HTH Pete

    Festool Domino 500................

Pretty sure the pins were discontinued when the paddles came out, so unless you're buying used you won't have the choice. I have the original, with pins, and they work fine. I've never used the pins to register a 'run' of domino mortices as I found the spacing to be too narrow - this is...
