    Bedroom Cupboard with Sliding Doors

If all you really want is to section off part of a bedroom to store stuff behind, then consider sliding mirror doors, and fit out what's behind them with a series of painted MDF boxes in whatever shape you choose - wardrobe-shaped, shelf-shaped, drawer-shaped, hanging rail-shaped etc... etc...

    Findable pencils

As a short-haired spectacle wearer, I can happily tuck a pencil behind my ear and under the arm of my specs; yes, it's as uncomfortable as all f*** but I always know where the pencil is...

    Moss

I thought the underside (horizontal board) was the soffit? The vertical board that attaches to the lower end of the roof trusses and carries the guttering is the fascia, and the boards at the gable ends are barge-boards. No? Not a roofer, so happy to be corrected...

I need a block plane!!! Has anyone used the faithful ones?

I bought the Stanley one last year - here - when they were ~£23 or so. Fantastic little plane at that kind of money. Also have the Quangsheng low angle block plane from Workshop Heaven which is very nice - though ergonomically I prefer the Stanley, the LA is lovely for end grain. HTH, Pete

    Favourite tipple.

Malbec for me. No problem at all staying within 20 units a week; 1 unit = 1 bottle, right?? Also:- I have to ask - how would you know?? Cheers!

Do Concealed Kitchen Hinges For 25mm Thick Doors Exist?

If that's how you want to make them then why not use 9mm/12mm or 6mm/15mm to make a 21mm door and use standard Blum hinges? Or just use 22mm MR MDF for the rails and stiles and groove them for whatever panel thickness you want - it's not difficult. ;) Pete

    Router Feather Boards

Checked just now and they fit perfectly:- Jaws are a little over 50mm max width. Cheers Pete

    Router Feather Boards

They're in the workshop, I'll measure them tomorrow, but I think they're 50-odd mm across the jaws, so should easily fit on the Kapex rails. But yes, for £4-apiece posted, they're terrific. Pete

    Router Feather Boards

Pleasure. That clamp's a crazy expensive Manfrotto SuperClamp from my old photo days - I'm sure a slice of plastic pipe will work just fine, though purely by chance a couple of these turned up in the post today, and for the money they're absolutely fantastic - really solid little clamps...

    Router Feather Boards

Sure. Here's one I made earlier :) (Did this on my phone so could only do 2x speed on the boring bits - feel free to FF>>) HTH Pete

    Router Feather Boards

Made mine out of 18mm MDF - mitre saw up to a pencil line, still going strong ~15 years on... Benefit of making your own is that you can make them to suit your needs. HTH Pete

Drawing plans - what do you use?

Yep, wasted a lot of time with Sketchup - I just don't need what it does. It's really hard to find a 2D drawing package that isn't a 'wannabe' CAD program or for 'artistic' drawing; I just want simple line drawings, to scale, sometimes with the option to have old-school isometric drawings. If...

My first finished commercial piece - what i learned

Good job - you and your client should be pleased with that. Re. the spelling, yes, definitely mention it - you're not paid to do as you're told, you're paid to think, and the client should be grateful for your awareness & attention to detail, as silly errors like this reflect badly on them. A...

    Wardrobe doors (making)

There's a million ways to do these, and I'm pretty sure I've done them all. All you need is a groover, same thickness as the panel - though I like a 1/4" groover with a 6mm panel as it gives a bit of wiggle room. Groove the full length of the stiles, three sides of the top & bottom rail, all...

    Virgin Media.

No, BT kill your email account if you leave, unless you pay to keep it active. Used to be about £15 a year, which I thought was reasonable, but it went up to £5 a month this year, which is what I'm currently paying to keep my wife's old "@btopenworld.com" account alive while she transitions...

    Wardrobe doors (making)

^^ What Chippy said ^^ I'll just add that if many of the doors are same-size it may be worth getting a quote to have them made.

    Track Saw Question

Well, like I said, some rails are used more than others, and the 'repositioning' trick extends their, life if needed. I do feel the Makita strips seem to wear faster than the translucent Festool ones - but maybe that's because I can see them more clearly ;) Cheers, Pete

Best cheapest tools / gizmo that you couldn't live without

Small (6") Bahco combi square. So useful for depth setting etc..., I have one in every toolbox, and a few to hand in the workshop. And FWIW whilst I'd generally rather have a cheap tool than no tool, I can't abide cheap pencils, personally - they may only be pennies, but the price of a decent...

    Saw Doctor in North London

I've cut plenty of ally (including a Makita rail) with the standard 48-tooth Festool blade without any issues - all dead square. I cut a 3 metre Makita rail down to 2150mm / 850mm specifically for trimming doors; depending on what your needs are, that may be worth considering?? HTH Pete

Fest**l - finally going to do it

Trouble with buying the set is that you get fixed quantities of various dominoes *and * cutters that you may never use. The Domino comes with a 5mm bit (assuming it's not the XL you're buying) so buy a bag of 5mm doms for a tenner and see how you get on with them. Using it for a while to...
