    Festool vouchers / alternatives

Cheers all. I don’t actually have any MFC or hi-gloss offcuts right now, or I would have used them to test! A birch plyncrosscut was the next next thing lol! @shed9 Where do you get the Trend blades for £11? All the ones I used were in the £20-30 range. Thanks! P

    Festool vouchers / alternatives

It was a follow-on from Part 7 of the Tracksaw Workshop series where I tried 48T blades from Trend, Axminster, Key blades and Festool in the cheap Aldi saw. The Trend and Axminster were particularly poor, little better than the 24T Workzone blade that came with the saw. On a whim I tried the...

Any more tips for an Echo/Alexa in the workshop?

No particular extra tips, but we also find the Echo Dots very useful. I hooked up my air scrubber to one in video #225 "Fan in a can" https://youtu.be/4uCLoD3qzrw and it works well. I tried a few wifi plugs and liked the TPLink "Kasa" wifi plug as it has a built-in timer function which is very...

Is Lidl track saw track compatible with Aldi track saw?

Aldi tracks are a bit of an odd duck. More on that in the upcoming review. You’re better off with the Titan IMHO if the Lidl Parkside isn’t around. And - shameless plug - if anyone’s unsure how much use a tracksaw would get, I’d encourage them to take a look at my just-introduced, 7-Part...

Sorry folks.. shameless Youtube channel plug ..

Everyone's a critic. Having chatted with Keith at length (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgR3Gxi2C-g&t=23s) I'm happy to say he's just extremely camera-shy - not a great place to be for a YouTuber - but overcomes this to produce great content, and has a very successful and thriving channel...

Sorry folks.. shameless Youtube channel plug ..

Fun thread, and as ever, I'm late arriving... Lots to chew over here, and too much to quote/reply to all, but this one from the OP... Scott, you are going to *love* YouTube when you start getting more views and comments!! Seriously, most important piece of gear for YouTubers - Rhino skin...

    Possibly daft MFT question

Sorry, missed this thread originally, though it looks like you guys have covered everything! I did a couple of vids specifically on the MFT:- 182 Festool MFT https://youtu.be/0V-p5F7SjO4 183 MFT follow-on https://youtu.be/RxcVY8ZR2fQ Which may shed a little more light. An MFT-style top, dogs...

    Which track saw?

No, I never have. A number of the Parkside tools are made by Einhell, but I don’t know if the plunge saw is.

    Which track saw?

I compared the Titan to the Festool in a video series last year; the Festool’s a better saw (shocker) but the Titan did very well. I’m using the Aldi in a series now and have to agree - it’s not great, even at the £80 asking price. If I’d paid £160 for this badged as a Scheppach PL55, I’d be...

    Droopy dominoes!

Well, I published a video yesterday, with Part 2 out today, and I explained *exactly* what the issue (singular) was with the fence, lol! Here ya go:- In some very early Domino DF 500s (i.e. 2006-era - mine is one) the fence could ‘drift’ off it’s locked position making it inaccurate over a...

ALDI Track saw - extra track

You can get the Scheppach 1400 rail for ~£30 at FFX right now. https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Sch ... -Rail-Pl55

    Glass cabinet doors

Toughened (4mm) or laminated (5mm) and I usually rebate & bead them in. I show the process in Part 2 of my Cabinets & Shelves video #166, if that helps.

    Festool Domino DF500

Don’t think they were ever that low Custard - unless you mean pre-VAT? I paid ~£425 inc. in 2007 or 2008 for an ex-demo unit. Still going strong - can’t begin to imagine how many thousands of mortises it’s cut. Incidentally, I know a few guys who’ve switched to the new Mafell duo doweller, so if...

    YouTube fun & games

Cheers everyone. Yes, curious how he hasn’t popped up here yet - must be busy, I guess, lol! Just for the record, this kind of nonsense does pop up periodically on a YouTube channel, and kind of goes with the territory, sadly; like I say further up, YouTube isn’t the place for the...

    YouTube fun & games

Hey folks. Haven't posted much here for a while as it's all a bit full-on, but I though I'd share this little exchange I had on YouTube with someone who's apparently, "supported and encouraged" me from the start. I put a short video series out a few weeks ago about making a set of shelves for...

    Workshop cabinets ala Norm

Why not just buy a sheet of melamine-faced MDF for the top? Glue it into another sheet of MRMDF if you want it thicker.

    40mm Birch Plywood

That’s how I make trestle desk tops for an interior designer (eg vid # 143) with 12/15/12 getting close enough to nominal 40mm thickness, without weighing a ton.

    Woodworking Jobs

Steve, I wish you well in your career change. I did it myself when I was 40, with no training or formal qualifications. I had been self-employed for 20 years though, and had no intention of doing anything but going it alone! I don’t think you’ve mentioned what kind of work you’d like to do...

    Good news!

Sounds more like ‘analysis paralysis’ tbh, Steve, though worth remembering that you’re aiming to so something better than you had before, which will take more effort. Feel free to PM me if you feel I can help/advise at all. Cheers, Peter.

    Good news!

But more importantly... how are the videos coming along??
