Best PU glue for mastic guns

Everbuild Lumberjack 5-minute and 30-minute PU. Great stuff 👍

    Disk Storage

This, exactly. A 10 minute-ish YouTube video shot in 4K might only deliver a ~2Gb final file, but each camera can easily produce ~35Gb/day, and I usually run 3 cameras, so it’s not unusual for each video to have ~200Gb of associated files; I do 2 of these a week, so it soon adds up.

    Track Saw

To be clear, the one I had was a demo unit on loan for a couple of months; I don't know how it had been treated until then, and obviously I can only give an opinion of the saw I have, which is why it was returned to Mafell to be checked over. I have a couple of maker/installer pals who switched...

    Track Saw

Where possible, try and get hands-on with any saw you’re looking at purchasing - looking at manufacturers specs doesn’t tell the whole story. FYI all my tracksaw-related videos are in a playlist here - http://bit.ly/TracksawWorkshop - including the one where I compare the Festool to the...

    Rail track hinge mechanism!!

Festool sell them as spare parts for the MFT/3, or there are these ones from the US. 👍

    Game Changing Tools

Thanks for the shout @marcros! The video is here if anyone’s interested. My game-changers were about moving from doing handyman type work to cabinetry, and the tools along that timeline that enabled me to compete at a higher level, yet still be a one-man-band maker/installer working from a...

Painting MDF with roller - Orange peel effect

Adding a dash of floetrol to water based paint extends the open time and can help reduce the stipple. I always used a concave end foam roller, laid off with a soft wet brush, but the best ‘straight off the roller’ finish I’ve had is from a Two Fussy Blokes short pile roller, though they’re a but...

    Apple Watch....

Original (series 0) Apple Watch owner since they were first available, swore I wouldn’t buy another until they had an always-on display, but cracked and bought a refurb series 3 at a knockdown price - about a week before they introduced the ‘always on‘ display 🤷‍♂️ Only downside is I rarely get...

    Top cupboards (completed)

Nice build Sammy! Shoot video next time & start a channel! 👍👍 Re the tearout on the moulding, it’s to do with the direction of cut - sometimes you need to flip the moulding over on its face to get a clean cut - I’ve used an offcut of the moulding for support and it‘s worked well. 👌

    12V solar workshop power, anyone?

Very good Raf. First videos are always your worst videos - you only get better by doing more! One small suggestion; introduce the product by telling people what it is - I had to google "bluetti A50s" to find out that yes, it is an all-in-one solar generator/backup battery aka 'power station' for...

    Which Festool sander?

Very nice! Very nice! I’ve no direct experience of the ETS EC but the guys I know who have them rate them very highly. 👍👍

    Which Festool sander?

You going to tell us which one Mark, or keep us guessing? 😆

    Understanding MDF

Good advice above. Personally, I’d use MRMDF as the baseline - nothing to do with its moisture-resistant capabilities, it’s just a much better board than regular MDF, doesn’t cost much more, is readily available, takes paint well and is flat and stable. It cuts well, and there are lots of ways...

    Which Festool sander?

All of them! 😂 Seriously, everything from P40 to P4000; most used, P120, 180, 240. Sometimes for down to P60, sometimes up to P320. But back when I was doing a variety of work, you need them all. 👍

    Which Festool sander?

Yes, easily. As I say in my Which Sander, When? video, a 6” random orbital with a decent stroke and a good orbital will cover an awful lot of ground. 👍👍

    Which Festool sander?

I don’t disagree with what’s been said, but I have the older 150/3, 150/5, and RTS400; the 150/3 rarely gets used as the 150/5 is very capable of prepping paintwork, but can be used more aggressively as well. The RTS 400 is the perfect orbital sander, and a combination of that with the 150/5...

What are the basic 'dogs' I need for my new bench? Theres alot of choice!!

I’ve never used the Parf Guide system, but it’s certainly the only drill-bases system around, afaik. And no, the router bit roundup will come when it’s ready - I’m still at the ‘gathering’ stage at the moment, many bits to buy, in many shank sizes!

What are the basic 'dogs' I need for my new bench? Theres alot of choice!!

I bought the Festool 491072 “20mm” bit; it’s what Festool sells for making MFT holes, and is renowned for making a ~20.16mm hole or thereabouts. Original MFT tops are actually that size - they were made to take clamps, not dogs. 🤷‍♂️ But the world caught up, and moved on; (relatively)...

Festool Domino DF500 what size cutter?

Depends on what you’re making. If it’s basic carcass and cabinetry work in eg sheet goods, then the 5mm bit it comes with and 5x30 Dominos do a great job, and take away that ‘whoops, I forgot to change the depth of cut’ moments. 👍
