Brit Cal Crutchlow qualifies 4th with broken leg MotoGP

Brilliant race and a great end for Cal getting second. Got to hand it to the guy riding with a fracture, balls of steel springs to mind. One hell of a rider considering he is not on a factory machine too. :D

    Contempoary Sideboard.

Now that really does grace your room Richard. Well worth the effort you put into it. Now isn't that just like a woman...no patients.

    Gate hardware

Yes it is a cranked hinge you need as stated above. I use ironmongery direct for my gate ironmongery, seem good quality and reasonable price plus quick delivery. HTH.

    My Garage, aheemmmm Workshop

That's a nice looking shop you have there Richard. Good idea to paint it all white first too as this helps with the lighting. I know exactly what you mean about running out of space, there is never enough no matter how big your shop is you will still fill it.

    Modern Shaker kitchen

Great work as usual Bob. I think you would have to be a bit of a masochist to build everything in solid if it is your business. Nothing wrong with veneered board and I am sure if the old masters were around today they would also use it for it's stable and versatile use. it would be great if you...

    Even more oak!

No Mick, there was a a lot of swearing I can tell you! I started today by attaching the toggle clips that will hold the removable top when in place. As you can see in this shot they clamp onto the edging of the top holding it tightly in place when in use. There are two clips on the...

    Even more oak!

After cutting out the sides for the slim book case I cut the grooves for the Tonk strips and the biscuit slots cut ready for assembling. I then cut the slots for the biscuits to mount the fluted columns on the side panels. Then finally got them in a sealer coat. Due to a mistake the fluted...

    Even more oak!

Afraid there are no photos today of WIP, but I did get the planer working again thanks to Bob (9 fingers) Turns out it was the starter capacitor. I machined up a bit more of the oak and later this afternoon I got the top lacquered and made a good start on the tall thin book case. I was rushing a...

    Even more oak!

Well it was another disastrous day today as my surface planer packed up again! Same symptoms as before but this time it doesn't seem to be the switch? I didn't really have time to 'play around' with it so left it and got on with the removable top. I had to edge all of the sides of the...

    Safe Working Practise For Planer/Thicknesser

I always use the same method too! Can't see any problem with it.

    Even more oak!

Had a good day in the workshop yesterday and today and got started on the rest of the top. Started by adding the solid wood edging. While it was in the clamps I cut out the shelves for the units. When the edging was glued I routed the profile on it and cut a profile where the two tops meet...

    Spraying MDF

Yes you can use a cellulose primer/filler to spray the MDF but it is doesn't have the high build that the Morrells does. It will fill the edges of the MDF but will take a few coats. I used to use it before I discovered the Morrells stuff. You will probably find a lot more sinkage with it. With...

Problems with Makita LXT batteries ?

Ah, update on my Makita with the LXT batteries. One has already bitten the dust. I bought two cheapo ones from e-bay and one of them has also bitten the dust but the other is still going strong....so far along with the other Makita battery. I have also been thinking of changing to De Walt in the...

    Even more oak!

I got back into the shop this afternoon and made a start on the two tall units. I spent the afternoon making the fluted columns for them. By the end of the day I had them ready for a finish. more veneered panels arrive tomorrow so I shall be able to finish the top and get the other tall units...

    Oriental Box of Draws WIP

That looks like a very interesting build. I shall be following this one with great interest. Great work so far. :D

    Even more oak!

I finally got back in the shop today after a couple of outside jobs and got cracking on the units. I spent today sanding the units and getting the finish on them. I had already managed to get the sealer on so it was just a case of a good sanding with 320 grit and on with the lacquer. I am now...

    A warning to all.

Pack her cases and show her the door! No way would I put up with that! Surely there is some sort of compromise to this situation? This is like her cutting off your arms.

5 yr old boy kills his sister with his own gun :(

Agree, anyone with a couple of brain cells would realise this. It just seems this family hadn't enough brain cells between them!
