    Tradesmen...18v Cordless drill recommendations please.

I agree that it seems Makita have lost the plot. I still have one of the old 9.6V Ni Cad Makita drill drivers which came with two batteries and one of them is still working fine.........over 15 years later! The new Makita kit seems fine it is just their batteries that are pants! I also bought a...

    Routing advice and instructions?

The instructions are correct. If you look at the arrow showing the direction of rotation it is curved showing the rotation of the cutter. The other arrow is showing the direction the router is being pushed which has the advancing blade going into the work. If the router was pulled backward this...

Recommend a good quality, easy to use dovetail jig

The Dakota jig from Rutlands is the easiest to set up and use IMHO.

    Tradesmen...18v Cordless drill recommendations please.

Sorry to say I have had Makitas for years now but am now looking at changing to another make. The drill drivers are great but the batteries are total rubbish. I had a 12v set for just over 1 year and all of the Ni Cad batteries failed. I then converted to Li Ion from a recommendation and the...

Another set of robes (finally finished)

Not always good forward planning as I have forgotten to order things before and had to wait for them. I generally make up a list of materials when I work out the plans. A week before starting the commission I take a deposit from the customer and order the things on the list. This usually works...

Smooth varnish/lacquer finish on spray painted guitar

I should imagine the finish will be the same as any paint from a can. The paint you have pointed out does dry pretty quick in it's brush on form so I would think it will be the same from the can.

Smooth varnish/lacquer finish on spray painted guitar

I can't comment on the matt black enamel as I have never used it. I would think you would be facing the same problem as it is still a spray can. Sorry.

Yes, I have to admit I was pretty bored by the end of the day. At least they are all done now.

Another set of robes (finally finished)

Well I finally got the doors finished today ready for a finish on them. Seems to have taken a long time but I have been working on other jobs too. 12 doors in all, six lower and six upper cupboard doors. I am on another job tomorrow so it will have to take a back seat again.

    2 second delay

Ah! now that has also answered my question too. In my workshop I have a radio set to the same station as my neighbour and his is a couple of seconds behind mine and I did wonder why this was. I now feel enlightened, thank you. :D

Smooth varnish/lacquer finish on spray painted guitar

That is your main problem Moy the spray can. you will never get a good finish from the can and there is not a lot you can do if your after a matt finish. as has been stated a matt finish needs to be from the 'gun'. if it was a gloss finish then yes you can apply it from a can and after putting...

Personally I just can't understand how people can waste their time playing computer games? What is the attraction with them? :?

Yes, I use the solvent AC stuff.

    Another quickie!

The finish is my usual Morrells 2K. This is a matt sheen. I have used the small roller catch for the door on this one.
