Well the weather wasn't so kind today and I didn't get a lot done. No WIP pics due to the weather either but will get some tomorrow. Did manage to get the roof panels on and the felt underlay fitted.....in the rain and wind. also got the fascia in place. Hoping tomorrow is a better day...

    Summer house

Well as stated after a late start yesterday I managed to get the base down. Today was much better as I got the frame erected and on to the roof. Also happy to report the Paslode was working faultlessly on the second gas cell. (Still not sure what the problem is with the other cell? ) By the...

    Morticer or Domino

I have a floor standing morticer and just recently I have started cutting tennons with the bandsaw. For long lengths I use the router with a jig to cut tennons. HTH.

    Summer house

Well, i eventually got started on the build today. I say eventually as the timber which was due to arrive at 8.30 am didn't arrive until 3.00pm! I think it helped when the customer rang them after I had three times to see what had happened. She got a bit irate on the phone and that...

    Domino anyone

I eventually got the DF 500 after thinking for years it was just a glorified biscuit jointer. Got to say it is one of my most used tools in my shop now along with the table saw. It is a lot of money to spend on a power tool but there is nothing out there to rival it for the small commercial shop...

    Canadian Speed Control

At first I thought it was the road outside my home! they are building a new estate over the road and the heavy machinery has ruined the road! Good fun on the bike swerving around them all.

    Oak computer desk (In place)

Ah yes I see what you mean Mike, I think this is due to the camera lens as it tends to bend similar to a fisheye lens. Thanks for the comments. :D

    Oak computer desk (In place)

I got the computer desk installed today. Glad to say everything fitted just as planned. Customer was very happy with it and I couldn't stop her singing my praises for such an ingenious design. She also gave me a tip and said she will pass my name around. :D

    Work trousers

I am forced to buy cheap jeans as i just can't get work trousers in my size (28" waist 27" leg) I have to shop in the teenage section for most of my clothes!

    Wardrobe doors

I start by making a 'box' for the carcass. I normally use veneered MDF if it is a wood finish. I allow a gap at the sides and top bottom to allow for scribing in/ cornice and plinth. I would also make the doors in solid wood and 6mm veneered MDF for the door panels. I make a plinth as a ladder...

I got these doors fitted today. Job went well and they almost slid into place. :D Just had to trim a little off the door bottoms due to a bow in the floor. :D happy to say another satisfied customer. :D Also a promise of more work from them too. :D

I'd like to hear about your tea drinking

I have just started drinking tea again in moderation as I am a devout coffee drinker. I used to drink lots of tea when my mother was alive. i used to work around the corner from her home so would spend my lunchtime there and drink her tea. (Ty phoo, little drop of full fat milk, and two sugars)...

    Built in wardrobes, Alcoves

They look impressive James considering they were built on site. How did you make the doors? Are they also made on site?

    Built in drawers

Yes Roger, I do spray my furniture. I find it is quicker than hand painting and give a better finish. I am afraid I can't find a link to Bob's technique, might be worth a PM to him. i can tell you that it uses a two slot cutter with a 6mm gap between. A 6mm false base is laid on the table and...

    Just coping! (now fitted)

My avatar is an old project of mine. It is a cutlery canteen made for a wedding gift for a customer. Here are a few shots of it. This was made out of some old oak floor boards and finished with a clear acrylic lacquer. The interior was sculpted in MDF and then it was all covered in flock.
