Thanks for taking the effort to look on my behalf. I appreciate it. Going to look now. Cheers. Kind regards Lee

I love this reply. Thank you for taking the time to understand my needs and the requirements of a confined space and realising like a couple of others that I would have to get this into my cellar. My idea was to use the timber I can get my hands on which in most cases is 2x6 or 2x8 live edge...

So it's this simple. I don't have the budget or space for a P/T and a chip extractor so I've decided to just totally forget the whole idea and stick to my hand planes and brush and shovel. Thanks for all your advice.

Even today I don't really have an issue getting a good enough edge for glue up, my jig on my table saw gives me an almost perfect edge. It's the face of the boards I struggle with a bit. It's a lot of surface to hand plane. The thicknesser was or I thought it was a way to get the face of the...

This is what's now putting me off. It took 3 of us to get the (new to me) band saw down there. And it's pretty obvious now the cheap titans of the planer world are either not rated or just not fit for purpose. Thanks.

May I ask what P/T your using and what type of extraction please. I've pretty much been totally put off even thinking about getting one now. Feel like I'm punching above my weight. Thanks.

Now that's advice. Thank you. Looks like I may have to stick with my hand planes lol. 300+ for the P/T and 300 odd for a chip separator, that's just way way out of my budget, I just couldn't justify spending that kind of money. Hand. Planes it is. Thank you kind sir.

Hi, I'd say probably no more than say 250/300 max. What I've done in the past is cut the boards to Aprox length then planed it out. I'd say the next project which is the triple bunk beds is going to be the longest boards I've had to deal with. I have 12ft lengths of live Edge at 8,1/4 W @ 3 and...

I have a 14ft x 8ft room in my cellar, 7ft high. I have a 7x3 workbench with my tablesaw built in on one side of the 14ft side, on the other side I have a 2ft x 8ft cross cut Station that has my cross cut in the middle, pillar drill on one end and I plan to put my (new to me) 1/2" blade cast...

Yer, I spent a few years in Chicago so still carry a bit of the slang, I'm fully aware of the uses of P/T, I have one of the best chipper extractors on the market, its called a brush lol. I have a relatively decent dust extractor but I just don't have the room to fit in a full on chipper...

Evening gents. OK so I'm just a hobbyist wood worker but I'd like to be able to use more rough sawn timber (cost) so I know I will need a thicknesser possibly a jointer/Thicknesser. I've been looking at some of the lower end stuff like the titan and Clarke but because I don't make any money...

    Palm router base plate extension

I did a community Christmas refurb old computer run last year, ended up giving away 8 refurbished windows 11 desktops to low income families for the kids. In doing that I collected an absolute shed load of crap pc's to get the parts I needed. Hence all the monitors lol. I didn't get a chance...

    Newbie from the wirral

Once I've got a few things sorted I will take a few more pics. I now know it uses 1/2" blades, it has a 7" cut depth and a 14" throat. I've not opened the wheel housing yet but I'm assuming it's a 14". I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew lol. I'm only a hobbyist

Well I have 6 old flat screen monitors in the cellar, trust me they are getting ripped apart today just in case lol.

Agh, OK, now don't I feel a *** lol. I've got a few old pc monitors so I know what I'm doing today. I honestly didn't think they would have anything that thick in there to be suitable. Oh well we live and learn. 👍🏻👍🏻
