Single skin brick garage workshop build

I've treated the walls directly to keep out the damp. Not going to insulate the walls now as im not going to insulate the floor, just vent the space behind the stud to prevent damp building up from condensation. The DPM on the floor is sound and the concrete is dry, I figure that the garage will...

Single skin brick garage workshop build

It's all good, it is not how I would want to see it built but it was signed off properly and it was checked over prior to the purchase and no issues came up. Its not my garage either so I'm not going to waste any money digging into the issue, hopefully it won't fall down and kill me 😂🤔, its been...

Close call and a lucky escape....

I have always had a fire extinguisher and one of those fire blankets on the wall just in case, we'll worth having for peace of mind....or when you set your workshop on fire!

why didn't you machine the quirk in the solid edge then it would have looked better as you wouldn't have seen the chipboard core?

    Big gap under internal doors

you can add a strip under the door and route a 2x2 or 3x3mm quirk/shadow gap to make it part of the design. I had to cut down both doors on a bifold door as the door frame was 662mm. cut the edging off at 10mm, cut doors down to size then routed a 2x2mm quirk on the door edge and stuck the...

    My first attempt at woodworking.

looks really good for your first go, you must n be well pleased. If you want something helpful for cutting large sheets then spring 200 quid for a bora centipede workbench. It folds away really small so won't take up much room.

It doesn't look like it should have had an extension over it but it was all signed off. Hopefully the stud will add a bit more support!

Single skin brick garage workshop build

I used OSB on my last garage and I didn't think it looked too bad but dust and cobwebs cling to it really badly and I do prefer the look of the ply so I think I will probably end up using ply this time

Single skin brick garage workshop build

Hi Mate, the extension was already done and signed off prior to the house being bought. It is a single 100mm brick wall supported by piers and a steel over the double garage doors. I'm just looking to keep a bIt of the cold out and use it as a workshop as the car is not parked in there. I'm not...

Advice on removing timber window frame in one piece

Just did this for a customer but with 2 UPVC windows. As a few people have already advised, multi tool or cut silicone, recip saw the screws or disk cut, if there is foam then almost any hand saw will do.

running a screw backwards instead of predrilling?

Interesting but I would still feel more confident pre drilling. Will give it a go on some scrap bits though!
