The computers have taken over... official.

Have you spoken to Axminster about this ? I'd suggest that you tell them you'll cancel the order if they insist on shipping outside of the EU. Then ask how much discount they'll give if the machine is collected from their warehouse by your preferred shipping company.

    Bandsaw BS400 problems

I would test it with the supplied blade before RP ask you to.

    hello, new woodturner! Quick question..

Except that they were offered with a 3/4" x 16tpi headstock as well, so you need to measure first.

    Bandsaw BS400 problems

That's not what the OP said though. He's described having several on going problems since new. Call RP and get them to sort it out under warranty.

no axminster catalogue from now on

I don't know the people that moan about the search facility are doing, but it works fine for me. Type Festool orbital sanding paper are they're there on the first page.

Images - Resolution v File size?

I've often read on photo forums people dropping by and hoping to do this and asking for the same advice. The reality is that scanning film/negs is hugely time consuming(think half an hour for each shot to do well) and the vast majority of people will quickly give up after a few days. You can...

    What a rip off

Make sure you're actually comparing 'like for like' many of the comparisons sites don't pass on all the information or fail to gather other details that effect premiums. You may find the cheaper cover might not cover accidental breakage or have huge excesses.

Images - Resolution v File size?

You were probably looking at Windows Paint, not Paint.net (www.getpaint.net) which I assume is the program Alexam is referring to. (One has to wonder how smart the software authors are if they chose to name their program the same as Microsoft's own graphics utility that has been in Windows since...

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

I agree, they could be plastic or Corian.

Images - Resolution v File size?

No, you can use them as expensive 'point 'n shoots' if you want. There are hundreds of millions of people using phones and digital cameras, often manipulating results as they please and getting decent results. They're not all IT experts, the vast majority of them don't have much of a clue about...

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

Maybe you should have the courtesy to read through it. Then you would not needlessly duplicate other people's comments and would be aware of the OP's response to them.

Images - Resolution v File size?

Ah those rose tinted glasses looking backwards eh ? The rigid strictures of being stuck with fixed film speeds, the difficulties of getting chemical processes controlled, stuck with limited options and reduced colour palettes, the thrill of dangerous chemicals, the silly costs, the delicate...

Images - Resolution v File size?

My post above gives pretty detailed information for people like Mark who need to deal with professional publications, but a lot of it needn't bother people with day to day photography. The problem is that if you want to post photos here or maybe get photos printed by someone else, unless you...

    Sorby Pro Edge DVD

+1 on the You Tube videos BY Robert Sorby themselves. They really tell you all you need to know in a succinct, clear way. I'd be interested to know what extra content the DVD shows beyond the You Tube ones. Beware there quite a few other videos by others that are a complete waste of time. Well...

Images - Resolution v File size?

This is a subject that causes a lot of confusion and there's lots of poorly written information about it on the web. Even many people in publishing that ought to know better don't really understand the issues and ask for the wrong things. So here's some simplified information that might help...

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

Only by you though! It must be something that concerns you or you wouldn't have mentioned it. As I've read it, the concern is not that you've copied someone else's work. The worry is that by being so similar to a fashionable item that's been on sale for a long time, much of your market has...

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

+1, in fact it's a legal necessity to have the business contact details on the site (although it's very rarely enforced). I actually quite like the web site. It's clean design will appeal to the likely clientèle. The photography could be better, but isn't really as bad as some here might imply...

    hello, new woodturner! Quick question..

Sorry , but those details are for the Tyme Avon, not the OP's Cub which was a smaller lathe.

    hello, new woodturner! Quick question..

The Cub had two different thread sizes on the headstock. The Cub's default size was 20mm x 2mm which is now a rare and difficult size to find much to fit. If you're lucky it may have had the alternative 3/4" x 16tpi headstock which may be easier to find bits for.

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

Having now seen the 'one a day' I'd agree that trying to supply John Lewis is a pipe dream. I doubt Liberty would be interested, their stock range isn't so 'industrial', far more 'arts and crafts' some wonderful work there though.
