    Routing a slot

Yes, I’d agree there, sub out to someone with a CNC?

    Moth repelling red cedar veneer

I’ve used cedar of Lebanon veneer, has the right smell. I’d still use moth traps though Aidan

    Routing a slot

Yep, just that, a separate back plate and a top slotted part. Might not be such a good plan with those thin sides but with a batch cut at the same time as a panel it could work, then cut in half and into lengths Aidan

    Routing a slot

Ah, the modern equivalent of the oxo cube dispenser. I’d still make a template and go from the top, use an under cutter bit on the same template afterwards, an l-shape could be used in a vice to hold the workpiece and the template in one hit. If you had one router per bit that’d speed you up or...

    Routing a slot

My eggy sauce compatriot makes a good point. Although I’ve come over more to guide bushes as you’re less likely to catch the template I find, the size of the dado compared to the stock material might favour a bearing cutter, maybe one with a larger bearing than the cutter Aidan

    Interwood Veneer Press?

They still have their uses, but it’s a steam engine in the era of the electric motor I’m afraid. Its greatest value is probably weighed in. If it was made up more of castings then maybe you could recycle them as something else Aidan

    Routing a slot

From the top freehand with a guide bush and a template

Did you pocket hole project wobble then fall apart?

If you watch an old film the car crashes are interesting, the cars stop dead and stay relatively intact, look closely at the people inside, they go flying. The same regulations that have brought about far larger and lighter cars with plastic mouldings as bumpers and flexible bonnets instead of...

    Is it just me?

And pull warped steel flat... I guess it depends what you want your clamps to do. They don’t look like they’re intended for timber framing, similarly neither do instrument makers clamps. Given the distance from the bar to the pad and the dimensions of the bar, these aren’t intended to exert much...

Did you pocket hole project wobble then fall apart?

I made some cheap MDF wardrobes (second hand hinges, handles made from pipe offcuts from work, I think the paint was the most expensive component) entirely held together with pocket screws, they moved house 4 times in total, being completely taken apart and assembled each time, I think the...

    Is it just me?

I can’t see a fundamental problem with the design. I find with my other bar clamps (Bessey admittedly) that it’s very easy to dent the work despite the large plastic clamp pieces. Depends what you are doing with it really. Plenty of welding clamps work this way Aidan

    Are cheap cyclones any good?

Now that is some cute engineering, uses a free feature to perform an additional function, I like that lots. I guess the first time you don’t empty the bag till it’s almost full you learn not todo that again Aidan

    Stanley brass plane

That was quite a common thing to do, someone at a foundry could duplicate metal parts quite easily, the bronze might be a fraction smaller than the original, but you’d be pressed to notice that. Aidan

How to strengthen a 19mm oak panel

Only people who can use google or read books ;)

    Oak dowel

Nice fixture, much better than trying to smash it through a plate, I guess you found that out pretty quickly Aidan

    Oak dowel

Have a go at making a 3mm dowel with a plate, it might be a smidge tricky. Dowel plates are ok for a few small bits of dowel, longer lengths less so For that diameter I’d be thinking bamboo skewers Aidan

    Surface Planer

Have you tried the sled for the thicknesser trick, it kinda works, not great but means you can surface plane Aidan

Very flexible dust hose for random orbital sander

A quick clamp routing the hose down from a shelf above the workbench is how I do it if there’s more than a few minute’s work. Aidan

    Upholstery Foam.

Yes, upholstery foam always seems very expensive for what it is. I tried to find a cheap supplier for a sofa, in the end some one local could take the cushions away, measure fit and return for less than I could buy the foam online. Maybe see if there’s a local small company, they may have an...
