    Not so smart meter

EDF here used to supply the old spinny disc meters in a waterproof plastic box ( about 60cm x 60cm x 25 cm deep ) to building sites and carnies ( they could be connected to the mains at each carny stop, some traveler / carny sites might "stop" for 3 months or more. thing was ..if you laid the...

woodworm holes suddenly appeared in new build bookcase

The ones here..came out of ( now deceased ) MIL's "antique" Chestnut dresser, ( given to her at a "discount" in lieu of wages by her antique shop owning boss when she was younger ) went into oak ( french natch ) floorboards, came of of there , went into pine door ( yes I know ) , came out of...

    Airbrushing

try 10% thinners to varnish and test..if it's too viscous , advance in 10% steps..until it sprays ok.. test on a smooth bit of wood, not the final object. mix in a small bottle.. not in the airbrush.

    ID this part please

For the precise "current usage" names of each part you'll need either @Jacob or @Phil Pascoe or @ChaiLatte to come back into the thread,or someone else in the UK who knows, it's been too many years for me since I knew the names of each part in English.

    Khan's ULEZ scam >road charging

Absolutely not what my mate who owns a french equivalent of an MOT test centre tells me..Whether what comes out the exhaust is "compliant" has more to do with the year of manufacture ( and the category the car is in ) than the emissions.."Modern/ recent" can push out identical figures to...

    ID this part please

I know how to fit one jacob..but I repeat ..more than one object is visible in the OP photo..there is no sanding disc.( hence my comment above ).and the OP has started another thread where the object they want "I'd" ( sic ) is the guide ( partly hidden ) in the background of this one. I can see...

    ID this part please

i know what a disc sander table is, ( they are however made up of more than one "part" they are an assembly, so the complete thing, or one of the "parts" ? ) but in the pic there is also a chuck and a toolrest. there is also no disc, to hold the sandpaper - abrasive, without which, the disc...

    fine woodworking mag

Presumably if you are paying for it it has no ads..oh..wait. Which is why I stopped buying magazines of any sort* around the turn of the century..and reading them at the doctor's is the best way to catch the previous reader's nasties. *Except a monthly "brit " thing for a euro ( which is 80%...

Likewise..( schoolmate very high up in one , since retired ) so you also know why the shift, but also why the continued "exploration"..

I tend to agree with Phil on this one..I've got some old ( known to be oak ) flooring in this house looks like that.

    Khan's ULEZ scam >road charging

You have shares in them...? Curious why you'd mention them.."out of the blue"..yours is the only mention of them in this thread AFAIR. Many people here ( including I'm pretty certain all those arguing for more ecological efforts ) knew that they had invested in Renewables..Maybe it was news to...
