Oak dining Table with Wenge Inlay

Nice looking table Brad it looks a good solution for a small space. I have used wenge in the past and have just about run out of solid timber but have some veneer left in stock but will think twice about using it in the future but it does look nice. Jon

should i buy a radial arm saw?

My advice would be to save up for a decent table saw with a sliding table which will be much more versatile than a cheap radial arm saw. I have a dewalt 10inch SCMS which is acurate enough for most purposes Jon

Are all router cutter brands the same?

I have a boxed set of trend cutters that came with a T3 router I bought. The cutters in these sets are not of the same quality as the normal trend range although for budget cutters are pretty good. The perform cutters are a step up from these cutters. I have loads of trend cutters but virtually...

    Curvy Oak Kitchen

Hi Brad / Riley I had the same concens about using solid stock rather than laminating. I experimented with laminating the frame components and found that the springback was hard to calculate and the components were moving all the time. I used titebond, Cascamite and epoxy and they all moved to...

    Curvy Oak Kitchen

Hi jake the top bullnose piece is made on the spindle. The curved parts are made using mdf jigs with a profile block guided by a bearing. You just have to make sure you have some lead in on the template. The parts are then put together and joined with dominos and pocket screws as the curves are...

    Curvy Oak Kitchen

Hi John the internal doors are a bit of a pain to fit. The external ones arent too bad. To get the door to clear the frame you have to put a large sloping edge on the door as in this pic. I generally get the top and bottom to fit and then keep planing the edge away until it clears the frame...

    Curvy Oak Kitchen

Hi all I have just got around to photographing an Oak kitchen I finished a few months ago. The frames and doors are all in solid european oak apart from the panels of the curved units which are oak veneer on 4 layers of 1.5mm birch ply. Carcasing is Winchester Oak MFC egger board. Views of...

    American Oak dining table

I think you would be ok to make the central piece from solid wood as the wood is very unlikely to expand that much and is more likely to shrink. Could you leave a 2mm shadow gap all around the granite? Jon

    Spalding Show this weekend

I popped in for a few mins on saturday as I was passing. It would be good for next time to get more woodworking bits there rather than just turning. I think I missed you on the stand but spoke to a guy called Stan who makes some amazing segmented turnings. Jon
