    Hegner

That is very useful information Colin, Thank you. (my bellows is nearing end of life)

    Hegner

I would not normally reply to a comment like this but I feel I must correct what you say. Firstly I did not say that Quick change arms fitted the Polycut (in fact I never mentioned polycut) Secondly I agreed with you that Hegner machines were expensive, I also stated that spares prices were...

    Hegner

I cannot for the life of me understand how you can say that it is difficult to change blades on a Hegner! It is the easiest thing in the world to do. Perhaps you would care to watch one of my videos where I show just how easy it is to change blades on a Hegner, you can do it in seconds with your...

I have to say that I have never found my Hegner machine aggressive, in fact quite the opposite, in any case the normal long stroke style can easily be changed as provision has been made to alter the machine to short stroke by simply undoing a bolt and using the stroke arm in the shorter...

Well anything is possible but it's not a task I would like to carry out myself and I have over 45 years of repairing electrical items. I don't want to offend you but the Nutool fretsaw is just one of many clones of a cheap far east made machine sold under a plethora of names, even some top...

If the machine has an induction type motor (no carbon brushes) then it is not at all feasible, if it has a brush type or universal motor then it can be done cheaply. Most of these cheaper clone type machines usually do have an induction motor however. :)

    Hegner Tensioner

I spoke about this in a recent thread... Which one to buy... choice of 2 as far as I can ascertain you can fit a new top arm but it costs around £130.00.

Which one to buy... choice of 2

Hegner saws are probably the 'Rolls-Royce' of fretsaws and will last a lifetime due to their quality build and I have no reservations about buying one and in most cases a good second-hand Hegner makes a better purchase than a brand new cheaper type machine. I bought my Hegner over 20 years ago...

New video How to do Scroll-Sawing and Fretwork. Basics for Beginners.

I hope it's OK posting this here? I have just published a new Scroll-saw video on Youtube. Most of it will not be of interest to 'seasoned' Scrollers as it is intended to answer the questions that people new to the hobby ask, such as what sort of wood to use? Or how to stick patterns on to the...

Is this a Hobbies fret saw?

Have to honest, I don't have superior knowledge, in fact my old brain forgets stuff very quickly but I have always been a fan of the Hobbies company and I have spent a huge amount of time searching through old hobbies weekly magazines to find stuff for my web site and I was surprised to find...

Is this a Hobbies fret saw?

The original Hobbies company never made this saw, they ceased to trade in 1968, however a new company was formed by an ex employee under the name Hobby trends, he later bought the original Hobbies name and became Hobbies again. This saw was not made by Hobbies but was offered for sale by them in...

Is this a Hobbies fret saw?

Sorry to correct you but Hobbies did make and sell Powered fretsaws, in fact long before anyone else did, in 1931 they made a bench fretsaw that was powered by a small electric motor and was supplied with a BC adaptor to plug into a light socket. A little later they produced the Anchor Fretsaw...

It's OK Colin, thread drift happens and I don't mind sharing. I am working on part 2 of the video but it is hard work and sometimes I have a job to get motivated to do things. Once I get going I am ok.
