Car Diagnostic scanners - anybody use them?

I have an IID tool which is a fabulous bit of kit but it's really aimed at land rovers. It can work with all of the cars ecu's and not just the engine. Plus you can enable and disable functions and read various live values. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Whats the best 18 volt drill and impact driver.

Although I recently bought a new Impact and Combi Drill set from Dewalt I think that the Ryobi impact driver is excellent and fantastic value for money. They now have a brushless drill which might be good, I felt their other drills were a little lacking, but the impact is fabulous.

    Carbide tip tools

Well I've bought the 4 pen turning chisels. So we'll see what they are like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good Woodworking Magazine - What the....

I'm not sure I agree with you Steve. I think that might have been true 6 years ago but now music is available differently and cheaply. 79p for a track. Or Spotify for free or as I do, pay for Apple Music for £15 a month for music for the whole family. Not sure the same can happen for wood...

    Carbide tip tools

I don't have a decent sharpening system and I am considering having a go with carbide tipped tools. I've come across this site: http://www.ukwoodcraftandcarbidechisels.co.uk/ Which I found after a YouTube review. Anyone got any thoughts on tct generally or have any experience with tools...

Whats the best 18 volt drill and impact driver.

Phil I bought a Carvex about 2 weeks ago! I did previously have a Ryobi battery one (well I still have it) but I was never happy with it. It was the original green one but it's been replaced now so the new one might be better. To be honest I don't find I need a jigsaw often as most things...

Whats the best 18 volt drill and impact driver.

I bought a Dewalt Brushless Impact and Combi just before Christmas. I bought the compact Combi and the two speed impact and both have been excellent. I tried the Milwaukee and the Makitas but decided that the Dewalts were lighter and felt better. There's tons of power in both and I notice my...

    Mitre saw?

250mm is a large diameter for most saws. You're definitely into bandsaws for that and not a cheap bandsaw either. Most Mitre saws have a maximum depth of cut around 60 - 100mm depending on the saw. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, that looks like the death of my Transit

A couple of my mates have just moved to leasing their vans as it's cheap and reliable and they get nice vans with heated seats and air con for a pretty small monthly cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Downloading magazines

I get digitise downloads of good woodworking as well as the paper version. They're ok and nice to have available but I do prefer a hard copy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good Woodworking Magazine - What the....

I'm not sure Steve's point about people not willing to pay for IP is right. I pay for my music and films etc and don't download dodgy copies even though I could easily do so. However I am less and less inclined to pay for magazines due to the lack of information contained within. Ok this...

Dust extraction for bench/hand power tools; shop vac?

I have a £50 Karcher shop vac attached to all of my machines via blast gates and 62mm hose. I've made some adapters for some of them. I can honestly say it works well with all of my tools. I only have one tool with a 100mm port and that's my table saw but even that seems to be good with the vac...

    New router??

I've used the Bosch and it's a perfectly nice small trim router. I'd probably look at the Makita and probably buy the Katsu as it's so cheap it's worth testing it. Many on here have used it and rave about it. If you want more options from your router then I'd suggest Triton represents...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

I keep a 4 cell maglite by my bed. It's good to have a "torch" to hand if you need it in the night! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Home security systems

I find there are a lot of "after the horse has bolted solutions" here such as cameras and smart water. I personally prefer obvious security such as an alarm and overt CCTV to put people off. Make your house less attractive to burgle than someone else's. I also have a safe with valuables in it...

    Parf Guide System Review

I'd have to try it in a fresh piece of MDF. To be honest the sheet I used was not in very good condition. It's was getting a little fluffy! I had breakout on most holes that I drilled without my bench underneath. However I'm pretty confident that it's the MDF that was the issue not the cutter...

Good Woodworking Magazine - What the....

I would scan the article but it looks very technical and I wouldn't want someone to attempt such a complex build and then sue me when it goes wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good Woodworking Magazine - What the....

My regular monthly copy of good woodworking landed on the mat today. I have just had a quick glance at it and there is a feature called Trolley talk. It appears to be a two page spread that is essentially screwing 4 casters onto a board to move things around on! What is going on in the...
