Post a photo of the last thing you made

Lol - especially as it's not at 90 degrees the side you can't see is on an angle. When it's finished that bit will have buttons on it as it's meant to be a control panel. Built a stage to go on the stage today (8ft deep x 40ft) long with retractable steps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not quite finished but I've made this: It's for a stage show. He will have a smoke machine inside him when he's finished and possibly some red led strips for his eyes.

    Tool theft

I agree that theft in general should be tougher but if someone steels my car they don't get a tougher sentence just because I need it for work. Same is true of my laptop. I think it's disgusting to deprive a person of their livelihood but that isn't restrict just to tools. The petition says...

Who watches YouTube videos & are they helpful ?

Yes I watch a lot of YouTube videos. A least I watch things on a subject I'm interested in rather than "say yes to the dress" which is the sort of drivel my wife enjoys. Plenty of good stuff out there. Peter Parfitt, Steve Ramsey, The wood whisper, April Wilkerson. and many more Sent from my...

    Pen kits

I've turned a few pens now and I'm getting the hang of it. I'd like to do some more and I like to European Pen kit from Axminster (probably because it's quite cheap and I tend to give pens away). I use the pens myself and find that the actual component that has the nib and the ink isn't very...

ArrowXL - and losing the will to live

I feel your pain. I suspect we've all been there. Alas it's difficult to know who a company will use and often they use several devilry companies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How do I accurately transfer CAD drawing to sheet of wood?

If you can save your image as a PDF then you can use Acrobat to print your drawing at 1:1 scale over several pages. Then line them up and away you go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Who needs machines?

Each to their own guys. Some people love to know they've made everything by hand. For me my passion is about creating and as it's a hobby I have limited time so I'll use power tools and machines whenever I can. In fact I very much enjoy using the machines more than I do the hand skill but that's...

    Bathroom vanity unit

Thanks and yes Axminster catalogue in all of our bathrooms! It's a standard install. I do wish they would do it again. They still refer to them in store and I find loads of things in them that I never see in store when browsing or on their website. I know they are on the website but I find it...

    Parf Guide System Review

I built a simple dust port for my Parf guide system. I also think the parf guide is likely to last longer than a MDF jig. It's all horses for courses although I paid £89 for my parf guide (I think) when it was first launched.

    Rutlands Xact Pocket Hole Jig

I went with a Kreg mini which I loved and then because I liked it so much and had a load of drawers to make I bought the K5 system. All very good in my view.

    Drill bits

Thanks for all the info. I think I might get some Fisch bits. I've got one of their 7mm for pen blanks and it's excellent so that's a good option for me. Thanks

    Drill bits

I'd like to get some good quality drill bits to go with my Wera driver bits. Any suggestions on the best makes to go for. I'd rather have a set of 6 good quality bits than 30 bits made of cheese. So any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    First ever bowl

To be honest the soft spalted material was just to hand and not what I'd tried before. I've got a bit of confidence now so will have a go at a few more. I mainly bought them for pen turning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    First ever bowl

I posted recently about carbide tools and I bought a small set (really for pens). I'd tried to do bowls before but always had issues with catches and subsequent disasters. Anyway I gave a bowl a go with the carbide tools and it went ok. Well I was quite pleased. Let me know your thoughts...

    Decent hex bits?

I've tried loads of different ones and I've settled with Wera and with the Wera bit driver (if that's what it's called) it's not magnetic and you have to pull the sleeve to release the bits which means no more lifting the drill and leaving the bit stuck in the screw. £15 or so very well spent...
