    A change for the worse.

I have no idea what the new layout looks like as I use tapatalk on my phone. Maybe worth trying that if you don’t like the new look? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

UKW Secret Santa Photos Thread 2017

Well my wonderful gift was a pen and pencil set. I know they came from Marcos as he was very secretive - so thank you my friend. Can I ask what the wood is? Also what are the kits as they seem much nicer than the craft pro ones I’ve been buying?

    Secret Santa 2017?

Definitely looking forward to opening mine tomorrow. It’s so nice to get something that I’m likely to genuinely want without having to have bought it myself for the wife to wrap! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you're buying a new washing machine, beware .............

6 on Saturday was because our eldest was home from college. She’s a catering student and has a lot of whites. One or two washes a day is very normal. Kids have school clothes, then play stuff and quite often skating dresses or brownie uniforms etc etc. I also have work shirts and trousers as...

If you're buying a new washing machine, beware .............

Sorry no idea. To be honest it’s hassle free for ten years so I don’t care if it’s made of cheese as it won’t be my problem to sort it. One thing I do know is that its not full of concrete. It has shocks and dampeners which seem to work brilliantly and there is no vibration and the spin is...

    Mains remote plug recommendations?

Siemens make some under the Lightwaverf brand. Don’t get the dimmer ones though. I have loads of the Siemens stuff in my house for lighting although I actually use the Lidl ones for exactly the same as you in my workshop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you're buying a new washing machine, beware .............

We bought a Miele a couple of years ago. It should have been £1500 but was ex display and it came from John Lewis where my wife is a partner so we ended up paying around £700. It came with a 5 year warranty which we increased to 10 years for about £100. It also has big cartridges which means you...

    Not a good day

No not a kitchen fitter - lol. I’m an IT director so I’m used to things falling over! With regards to root cause analysis..... well that’s easy and obviously all my fault! I’d put a piece of MDF up onto the wall ages ago and hung a few tools off of it. I decided I needed more storage so built...

    Not a good day

Well been out and had a brief look at the disaster. Tools everywhere! Going to take some time to tidy up. Had a quick look at the planes and they seem to be ok. My low angle block plane has a tiny pin prick on the sole so I assume it hit something sharp. It’s tiny though and will flatten easily...

    Google Home or Mini?

I have a couple of Alexa’s I like them. I also have a lighting system. I can lay in bed and get her to turn out all the lights in the house. Also if there was a fire or burglar all the lights come on. I also use her for my alarm, calendar entries and various other things. The kids use her...

    Not a good day

Working in the workshop this morning. Had some turning on the workbench and..... Crash! My cupboard came off the wall! I managed to throw all of my Ryobi power tools from the top of my cupboard onto the floor and hit my head and face on the way down. Oh and the tools on the peg boards on the...

    LED Light Strips

Used loads of these. The cheapest eBay strips will be fine for a shelf. You can get some with brighter LED’s but for a shelf the cheapies will be fine. Go for warm white though or it will look very clinical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How's about this for a elf 'n' safety warning?

So Phil was - Immersion Heater Element the right answer? Could work out if it was or if you were just smiling at the concept! I suspect it was the right answer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How's about this for a elf 'n' safety warning?

Tennis ball! It’s either going to be something that doesn’t need a warning or something where it’s not remotely appropriate for a young person. Serious guess - phone charger? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Secret Santa 2017?

With regards to how much I like this - it really is a highlight for Christmas for me. It’s nice to get something I’ll actually like and or appreciate that isn’t something I’ve had to write down on a list. In fact for me it’s worse than that I just get told I can go to Axminster. I’m not...

    Amazon Prime....

I like prime, I think it’s good value. £70 for a year. That’s enough for postage savings alone plus you get films and tv and some music and you also get photo backup which I find useful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
