    Cordless tools.

Ryobi one plus for me. Great quality tools for not huge amount of money. They are constantly adding things as well. I have got loads of their tools. Their impact driver is stunning. I also have their 6 port charger so I've always got batteries charged and ready to go. Sent from my iPhone...

My 11 year old niece has a smartphone- im angry

I work in IT and have 3 girls aged 15, 12 and 8. My eldest two have phones and iPads and my youngest just has an iPad. We have had a conversation about safety and they are very aware of it from school. There seems to be a lot of negative focus on technology but actually I have found that it...

    Drilling (specifically centre points) question

Not sure what your funds are etc but if you have CNC and this is a commercial project then could you make use of the new domino connectors? I assume you've seen them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Axminster's Valchromat "MFT": any owners out there?

I saw one the other day. The twist dogs are a bit odd. When in and twisted they are a good tight fit. I am however not sure why you need to lock them and when they aren't locked there is play in them. Not sure if it works ok with Parf dogs etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    In praise of Amazon

Ah that had never crossed my mind. So they want your boarding card so that they can say you're exporting the goods and therefore not pay the VAT on it, yet they are charging you that VAT? Or rather I guess they are claiming that everything you buy is priced without VAT, yet oddly it's the same...

The Future of the Woodturning Challenge

Not wishing to upset anyone but I must confess I wasn't really aware of the challenge this year. I don't know if something changes or if I do something different but last year I seem to recall seeing the challenge regularly and looking at the results etc. This year I don't seem to have seen it...

    Internet in shed

What the last two guys have said. Cat5 into the router and an access point on it. I have wifi in my workshop but i used power line sockets for that but if you've already run cable then you just need a wireless access point to plug in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    new tv licensing laws

I think the issue with the TV licence is that it was original a licence to have and watch TV. We are in a very different world and that doesn't work now. I think the best thing to do would be to scrap the licence for owning a TV and take the fees from the media companies as a media tax. In...

    Dovetail jig

Yes it does, I've got the Festool OF1400 and I did try that but with the copy ring in place there is no space for the air to flow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Dovetail jig

Thanks for the encouraging words. I have to say that the UJK jig is very good. I think it's a lot better than the Chinese copies. I think it is the same as the Port Cable jig. The quality is excellent and importantly the manual is brilliant. Clear, loads of colour photos and step by step...

    Dovetail jig

My test bits will be in MDF but I'll take that point on board for the actual thing. Might try and get some rest cuts done today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    new tv licensing laws

Actually it's pretty easy to get caught. Most people have a TV and therefore most people need a TV licence. It's therefore very easy to check on those that don't have a TV licence. My uncle doesn't have a TV licence and get a visit every now and again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why is Healthy Food So expensive in UK?

So you don't like ready meals - then don't buy them. We are fortunate enough to have a huge selection of foods to buy in the UK so you can buy fresh fruit and veg. As for cost, I don't think it's bad but it's no doubt cheaper abroad I'd expect oranges to be cheaper in Spain etc. I also think our...

    How to

I'm sure they aren't the cheapest as they have big warehouse style shops catering for everything. My wife sews and makes cakes and doesn't generally buy from them but finds them useful for odd things. I doubt a tub of Modge is going to be too outrageous - although I have no idea how much it...

    A blast from the past...

Some of the writing has dated a little but considering its 30-40 years old it's impressive. I watched the film the other day and quite enjoyed that as well although I thought the writing was quite week compared to the stunning cast. Gambon was excellent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
