    Two fused switches. Help

This is how it is wired (using the old UK colours)if it is in the new colours it should be done in those of course (well to be accurate it should all be done in new colours- but that makes it even more confusing lol as the original wiring is likely in the older colours...) Red is now brown...

    Two fused switches. Help

It depends on whether its on a ring or a spur- if its a spur already then a single fused switch can be put 'inline' with it- but if its on the ring, then its a bit more complicated wiringwise as you would have to put the outlet onto a fused spur with the ring left intact ie the ring stays...

Remote control for a dust extractor?

The easiest way is use '230v contactors'- which have a coil voltage of 230v instead of the 5/12/24v found in smaller relays... Readily available at any electrical suppliers... Use the relay/triacs in the smart switch to 'switch the contactor' coil on and off... All the major 'usual brands'...

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Many run the extractor itself away from the shop due to the noise (in fact the video I showed before has his mounted upstairs well away from his shop lol) but his is a 'full on' system, with electrically controlled gates on multiple machines etc- he's added to it gradually over the years until...

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Was just mentioning that almost all of them will work as a NVR anyway for those that panic about it 'not having one anymore' lol

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Quite a few people run 'ducted' systems with gates and a single extractor- thats where the remote comes in handy- either just clip it to your belt, or have one at each machine (you can get 'learning remotes for a couple of bucks lol) where you want to be able to turn the extractor on/off from...

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Note that most of the remotes default to off when they lose power anyway (only a very few have the 'memory' to revert back to their previous state) so they are effectively acting as a NVR anyway... Easy to test- turn it on with the remote, and then turn it off at the outlet- wait until it spins...

Actually I DID post them, back on page three... Don't need your diesel- got one of my own (although it and the petrol car are both being replaced next year by a BEV... and I live in the middle of the Aussie bush lol I never said they were 'harmless' (more hyperbole) but I DID say that the...

Same here- I did my apprenticeship as an elec fitter and later added my auto elec ticket- and older vehicles WERE a killer if run in a closed workshop- BUT that has changed- although for comforts sake exhaust extractors should still be used, any modern vehicle is so much safer that it is...

Short of supergluing your lips to the exhaust pipe and sealing your nostrils shut- NO car or building is that airtight that the oxygen in the air around you won't be replenished at a far greater rate than it is being used...

So far, the ONLY person who has done so- is ME... You made the claim that your car/garage is so airtight that oxygen can't get in to replenish what is used... step up and present your evidence of this rather extraordinary claim....

You will be dead long before the oxygen in the air is reduced to where it won't support life... (I tend to be paranoid because I used to work welding in confined spaces in my younger days- where air supply quality is vital- people have died from air contamination) Here you have to pass a...

Yes- because it is the bloody CO which KILLS you!!! Why do you think they make carbon monoxide detectors for those with gas appliances??? The oxygen content can vary by a huge margin before it kills you- but it only takes a TINY amount of CO to do the same... Here's a hint- look up (using this...

And yet NO car- or garage is anywhere near airtight... And as CO levels are THE important factor in killing someone- we can ignore the arguments that assume they are... Otherwise I could say that even in an airtight car in an airtight garage, my invisible magic unicorn that breathes in CO and...

If I had a choice of vehicle to try it in, and I wanted to live- the diesel is the 'safer' option of the two to try it with lol Be interesting to see just how high the CO levels would actually get in a car- it too late for me to bother trying to calculate it, but but it would have to hit well...

    Smoking

IF you had a completely airtight room then after a few hours (days) then you might run out of oxygen- but as that applies to not a single home garage on the planet- a lack of oxygen is of no concern... What killed people was carbon monoxide poisoning- and as my links above showed- you would need...

Unless you have managed to sneak your car onto a submarine or other airtight containment, there is always plenty of oxygen in the environment- what killed people was too much carbon monoxide in the air- which inhibits the bodies ability to USE to oxygen in the air...

Like I mentioned before- if you want to try it, then using a petrol car is your best bet- as they are legally allowed DOUBLE the CO emissions of a diesel... (carbon monoxide/CO is what is the 'silent killer') https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards
