    Floating staircase steel work

Not a thing in Australia- even most wooden ones (like the original ones at the old place) were open backed... I supose that if that was an issue, you could just add a 'glass back' and viola, no gap lol

    Floating staircase steel work

Structurally, they are probably safer longterm than a wooden one... Plus many like the 'modern' uncluttered look of them... Personally I am 'meh' about them myself, but my ex absolutely loved the look of them and wanted one at the old place... (I was surprised, I thought that glass stairs would...

    Has anyone bought from Temu?

I've left one star reviews at times- the most recent was a company that was selling T95 Android 'media center' minicomputers- they were selling them with the options of US, EU or Australian/Chinese plugs on the power supply- shame the supplied power supplies were only rated 1A, where the units...

    Has anyone bought from Temu?

It has always been an issue- one of my first 'bought' computers (as opposed to DIY) was an old 386DX I picked up at the government auctions (this was back in the early 1990's) and when I fired it up- it was rather shocking to find it had come from the local hospital- and it was still completely...

    Has anyone bought from Temu?

Also common- there have been MANY data breaches that have let peoples passwords etc get stolen and sold to scammers etc- F/B has had several that saw literally hundreds of millions of user account details leaked (one of the reasons I refuse to let them have details like drivers licences etc, I...

    Floating staircase steel work

Actually quite common in many new houses (indeed it was quite the fad a little while back to have 'invisible' stairs- floating glass staircases- literally just the toughened glass steps and no frames at all- not good if you have a fear of heights lol)

    Has anyone bought from Temu?

That particular scam has been around for over a decade lol- long before Temu even existed... They send those emails out by the millions- I got the first one back about 2017- when the only thing I had that went online was a old XP tower system- which didn't even HAVE a camera... Scam alert...

Anyone got experience of insulated roof panels?

They do have internal support inbuilt- you just can't see it... That's why the insulated roof panels are so 'thick' for the longer lengths compared to the shorter ones like mums 6m or my 7m ones- all their internal framework is hidden in the insulation... The mob that made mums actually has an...

Anyone got experience of insulated roof panels?

Dunno why- my big shed here (from a different mob) is 9m x 21m total- the main shed part is 15m x 9m with a 5m x 9m 'leanto' added on to one side, and has not a single post internally except in the walls...- and its rated to cyclonic conditions... (rated to Region D Category 2 cyclonic...

Anyone got experience of insulated roof panels?

This is an Aussie mob that makes insulated roof panels, they can do up to 9m with some of their panels, my mothers is 6m and mine wil be 7m when I get to the veranda, I would think that somebody there would be making something similar... https://thetrademan.com.au/verandahs-patios/flat

    hearing

I been wearing 'behind the ears' type now for about a year, (tried the in ear 'bud' types, and like the headphones style, they simply wouldn't stay in for me LOL), but rather than the 'try to hide it' style, just went the 'black ones'- simply because half the people I know wear 'over the ear'...

    Wiring up home workshop

Ring circuits never really took off anywhere but the UK- and they can (as you noted) cause all sorts of headaches when the ring breaks, or is modified in ways it shouldn't have been with add-ons :-( A broken ring (and from what I have seen, it is far from uncommon in EICR's to find a broken...

    18v tool brand choice

XR is the battery style (slideon) as opposed to the older XRP (plugin) battery style... (even more confusing- the XR comes labelled as both 20v and 18v (it is identical in both battery styles 'nominal 18v' with the same number of cells in the lithium versions) and you can get 'brushless' in both...

    Wiring up home workshop

Another aspect with MCB (circuit breakers) is that you can have different 'current curves' for the same current limit- eg in Australia, it is common to find B (older houses) or C curve breakers (newer ones), while the UK tends to use A or B curve breakers... (there are several other ratings as...

    Wiring up home workshop

Same here for fixed wiring, but 'extension cords' are different-1mm is ok for 'light duty/7.5A rated cords, 1.5mm for normal duty 10A cords (which apparently is the limit on UK cords/plugs) but for heavy duty ones 2.5mm is the norm here (apparently not allowed on a UK plug... despite having a...

    Wiring up home workshop

Weird, your UK standards allows a higher current from a standard wall outlet/powerpoint than the AU/NZ ones (13A against only 10A) and yet restricts the cable size to only 1.5mm against our 2.5mm (or larger- Au/MZ has no size restrictions on the cable so if you could get a 3mm or larger cable...

    Wiring up home workshop

Um- you sure about that??? BS and Au/NZ3000 regs are 'compatible' (ie a device approved to BS is acceptable under Au/NZ regs 2.5mm^2 is used extensively in '10A heavy duty' and '15A caravan' power cords here Ironically, Deta is a UK based company lol

    Another scam?

Although there are plenty of dodgy sellers out there- there are some dodgy buyers too... :-( I (about five, six months ago) sold off my old drill press and a bench grinder on the 'bay' (both in quite good condition, simply too small for the work I am doing atm) and the buyer claimed they...

    Buying cheap tools

I'm pretty sure I have an old B&D one I got from my dad still somewhere- the drill was dead, but so old they were a 'bronze gold' colour instead of the orange/black, so I have no idea of the age (he built his first house with them, and they were oldish then, and that was back in the early...

    Electrical testing for lighting products

Interesting, most fuseboxes installed in the last decade or two in Australia use C curve breakers, rather than B curve... Lights and power or 'combined light/power' like the garage all C curve breakers (10A for lighting, 20A for power or combined) (thats the fusebox from where I used to live...
