Applying features with router and indexer.

There's some good old mechanical logic going on here. I was dreading this being dominated by cnc. Please keep it that way guys. Bob

Applying features with router and indexer.

Thanks Pete. Had to read that a few times to form a picture. It sounds like man's work. You could get me and my jig in a cereal box. Seriously though, it sounds very interesting. I like to see original thinking and your Dad clearly understands the subtlety of the task. He's invested heart...

Applying features with router and indexer.

Woodpig You've crushed my ego. Humbling or what. I can't even call my jig a wheel after seeing these inventions. Absolutely fascinating. BTW Phil if you read this. That link you provided led me to some very enjoyable and informative sites. Thanks Bob

Applying features with router and indexer.

Thanks Phil. That's a very useful aid for those without a drawing or cad program. Would have saved me some time too.

Applying features with router and indexer.

Thanks Woodpig (feels disrespectful typing that!) Some time ago I was exploring inlay cutting for a jewellery box for my wife. I made a mini fixed base router that used a dremel and sleeved bit that could follow a template. It worked OK for veneer depth cutting. This was then adapted to...

    Small hollowing tool

Hello again Woodpig. Just checked out your posts. (a good knowledge source I thought...correctly too!) For a small offset tool I bought this-http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-hss-imperial-metric-external-internal-threading-tools-ax932145 The imperial version is dead cheap and good quality. Bob

Thanks Woodpig (nice name!) Good feedback at last. I work in "splendid isolation". A club environment sounds like a good place. The attitude of the router cutter is critical for good results. Cutting with the axis perpendicular to the work face can leave a very ragged finish. This is easily...

Applying features with router and indexer.

Finally got round to doing a bit on the lathe. It was fun experimenting with the router but got sick of the dust and noise. Results are ok but doesn't satisfy like turning. Was hoping for response from fellow practitioners of router carving. Seems thread has no legs. I made a few bits...

    CL3/4 brass rod

Mine's 10.0dia. x 140 Mild steel might mess up your nuts....err locking nuts. Brass bearing is a bit messy but lasts forever if you oil regularly. I like mine. No rumbles or rattles and its over 20 years old. Just changed my belt btw. Bought a 10 rib and cut into 2x5. Cost about 1/4 of...

Record CL lathe - Small improvements

Phil. My lathe is c.1978. I check the bearing adjustment regularly. I never run it with any perceivable play. It has always leaked oil after lubrication which flies off the rear of the chuck without the sleeve. The bearing needs oil every few hours if it is to run really freely. I've heard a...

Record CL lathe - Small improvements

Here are some modifications I made to my CL3 to make it a more likeable companion. There are a lot of these out there so someone might benefit. Apologies if they seem old hat. 1. Make and fit an oil retaining collar for the brass bearing. 2. Replace the pressed steel shaft spanner with a...

Thanks Peter Glad you liked my little collection. Coming from an accomplished craftsman. That's really appreciated. Bob

Applying features with router and indexer.

I've posted some larger pics on http://s77.photobucket.com/user/Leew_Fr ... t=9&page=1 Leew Francis is the other me btw. Got loads of things to try when I've got time. Will post more when I can. Like to see similar stuff from others. C'mon, this is good for the grey matter. Would like to...

Applying features with router and indexer.

I'm in awe of the carving talent I see on-line and would love those skills. I've been wanting to add features /textures to my turned pieces but know it would be tears if I laid a hand-tool to them. I spent a few days building an index device I could use with a small router. All the parts...

    Record ML360 drive belt

Thanks Guys K21 is a rare beast. Ordered one I found on Amazon from a friendly fella in Hong Kong . Looked perfect but was a bugger to fit. It was about 3/4" shorter than nominal. Perhaps the loss of Britain's influence has allowed the inch to devalue. Motor factors tried have been...

    Record ML360 drive belt

Could anyone help me find a replacement. Its the outer longer belt. Record reference V-belt K-21. Record cannot supply. Similar to Toyo and Manix Thanks.

    Handheld CNC wood router

Impressed indeed! Thanks. This video should have an x-rating for old world woodworkers.

    wolfcraft

Hi MM There is no title or description on my manual other than Combination System (Kombi-system) To me its a rudimentary universal milling machine if that's any help! I use it for making small parts in plastic and aluminium (often to mend things) that I cannot make with a drill and lathe etc. I...

    wolfcraft

I have one of these I use with a small AEG router. It is adequately rigid for good quality detail work and very versatile. I can machine wood and aluminium with conventional router bits to a good finish. I have a manual but it is barely more than a parts list. The catalogue number is 5000 000...
