    SC3 Chuck and remounting jaws

Just a piece in my metal scraps box. Almost any metal would do and you can drill sockets into each end on your wood lathe. Maybe even 15mm copper pipe would do.

    SC3 Chuck and remounting jaws

This was my solution. Just a steel joining sleeve. Cut the key and secure with epoxy. Pin if required (has not been necessary) Works fine.

    Using a Lathe

It is a pity that genuine, non-commercial environments like this forum fail to attract more active members because it has the potential to be a great destination for sharing the fruits of our craft.

    Slotted pot

Derek, The potential for your jig is enormous. You may recall I started a fluting thread a few years ago (https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/appl ... nd-indexer) that ran for too long. I have since developed several unique fluting systems with pleasing results. Attached (I hope) are some...

Pickled my brain with lathe choice!!!

DaddyG, I thought I had done well cramming machines into my shed. At least you're well equipped to build a bigger shed, 'cos after that lathe the bandsaw is going to be a real squeeze. Good luck. BTW I would re-iterate what others have said. A good 2nd-hander is wise choice if you can find one.

    turning extremely hard wood

Hi Basil. I am not an expert turner but I have used quite a few abrasive hardwoods. I have found ebony to be a pleasant, if dusty, wood to turn. I use home-made HSS tools of pretty dubious quality and find sharpening intervals are frequent but tolerable. To benefit from an engineering...

Oh bug..r what am I gonna do now? Well done Pete. Fine bit of work. You're going to have some fun now. I've moved on a bit lately so I might post a few more challenges for you. So glad to see someone pick up this thread again. Thanks and happy routing Pete.

    Anyone used the RP2000 Chuck

Agree with marcros. You can't beat a collet chuck for compactness and concentricity. Axminster do a Junior chuck for about £45 with 3 collets. I bought a milling kit from amazon for £28. Chuck with 13 collets (13-1mm). Converted it with an old faceplate to suit my lathe. Quality is excellent...
