    Dyed veneer finish advice please.

Hi Simon COLOURLESS TRANSPARENT POLYURETHANE BASE COAT FP262 COLOURLESS POLYURETHANE GLOSS LP152P As I said I spray my finish and it goes 2-3 coats leaving 1hr between coats, the next day this gets cut back with 320 grit. There will still be low spots which will be shinny, then clean the...

    Dyed veneer finish advice please.

I have used clear grain filler and it is not clear just neutral and not suited for lots of different colours. The epoxy is called z-poxy finishing resin and works but has its problems + it has an amber tint. I produce jewellery boxes with many colours and to retain the true colour the best...

My shellac finish on oak question - pictures included

I would think this is just sinkage and is sinking into marks on the bear wood. Shellac takes a while to go fully hard and I would recommend first mixing your own from dry flakes so you have a fresh amount (as shellac gets older it takes longer to dry) once you have filled the surface and applied...

    Veneer wont stick

Try again and give the surfaces a clean with alcohol or M spirit just to remove an dust or dirt that will prevent the bond. Next is to not use too much glue just enough and roller it on with a mini gloss roller (just do a test piece with a small piece and keep it under pressure for 1hr it won't...

    veneering

Shouldn't be a problem - but I now always use Borden UL39. But watch there is a lookalike out there called Dynea and it bleeds through and does not mix well. Best Ian

    Help find a tool

Hi All I have been trying to find a saw that I came across several years ago. From memory it is a bench top saw but there is no motor or circular blade instead it has a very sharp knife and the wood it pushed across it in a crosscut action, with a thin knife it boasted a very thin kerf. Cheers...

    Another veneering question

0.6 on one side and 3mm on the other would asking for problems - although might work with epoxy resin. As others have said it should be the same thickness and if possible same wood and veneered at the same time. But even when balanced the drying has to be equal to both sides so best to dry so...
