Second hand bandsaws - Record power BS350s, Minimax S45 or ?

I wouldn't be put off by that. Nothing sophisticated about the original guide system. I used lignum vitae blocks bolted to the existing mount. I'm sure you could do the same with ceramic, these days. The thrust discs tend to get a bit knackered but I'm sure they could be replaced with something...

Second hand bandsaws - Record power BS350s, Minimax S45 or ?

The only downside to the Bursgreen is the motor power. That may not be a problem for you. In any case, you can run it straight away with the converter that comes with it. If you need more power, you can save up and buy a new motor: https://inverterdrive.com/group/Motors- ... 132S-6-B3/ and run...

I'm pretty sure the MZF would have ball bearings. If you email that picture of the converter to Boost Energy, they should be willing to tell you about it... http://www.boost-energy.com/phase-converters.

Second hand bandsaws - Record power BS350s, Minimax S45 or ?

That is a 16" MZF from the 1950s (pre Wadkin). You can see the manual here: https://www.advancedmachinery.co.uk/mac ... andsaw-180 I had one and used it for resawing. It was a bit underpowered and the small wheels reduce blade life a bit. I doubt if it is dual voltage but you can always ask...

Wadkin 12" BAO/S Planer Thicknesser Project

Will do! Hope to get this thing on its back by the weekend. Need to take the cutterblock off first to reduce the weight a bit. Wonder if we could use an engine stand to work on the BAO/S? Pity they don't adjust in height......

Wadkin 12" BAO/S Planer Thicknesser Project

In the BAO/S manual it gives instructions on adjusting the belt tension of the cutterblock drive. This is done by screw adjustment acting on a jockey pulley (see extract below). In my machine there is no jockey pulley or adjustment system just an unused mounting hole! Can anyone with a BAO or...

Wadkin 12" BAO/S Planer Thicknesser Project

Thanks wallace, that's interesting. I noticed that the machines Wadkin exported often had dual voltage tags.. My AGS (1977) is wired for Wye only. This BAO/S is 1982ish so, it's possible....

Wadkin 12" BAO/S Planer Thicknesser Project

Extracting the thicknesser table. - Loosen the screw holding the stablising post into the table and lower the post. - Remove the depth indicator. - Take out the bolts holding the table onto the column. - Use the depth motion mech. to lower the table onto planks between trestles. - Pull the table...

    Bandsaw blade centreing

Another thing to bear in mind when deepsawing is that the tension is slightly unequal between the sides of the blade. There's a tendency to cut concave (vertically) towards the frame of the bandsaw. So, allow for this if you have the fence on the frame side of the blade.

    Wadkin 10" AGS - Rise & Fall Bearing Screw - Item 40

No problems with my usage even though I only left an inch between the fan cowling and the inside of the extraction box. If you're planning on using it intensively you might leave a couple of inches but the suction from the extraction gives a good airflow. I've even run it with the box on without...
