Replacement chip extractor impeller - help please!

Success! Here is a picture of the repaired impeller: And here is the extractor back on duty with my other recent acquisition/project: I put a few boards over the planer with no problems and just hope that it will stay the course. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and encouragement.

Replacement chip extractor impeller - help please!

Thanks again everyone. I epoxied it back together last night. Didn't get time to grab a photo this morning but will try it out tonight and post a pic of my liberal application of araldite! If it works then the extractor is definitely on light duties and staying attached to the P/T and not...

Replacement chip extractor impeller - help please!

Amazing how very simple solutions can pass me by! Having dug through the waste bag I have recovered the two main missing pieces plus an extra fragment or two. I've nothing to lose by trying araldite and then maybe sandwiching all the fins in aluminium for strength and balance. I suspect that...

Replacement chip extractor impeller - help please!

Thanks for the replies. Yes perhaps I should start by trying just gluing it back together. Aluminium is also a nice idea. The balance is currently absolutely awful.... The machine wants to dance across the room!

Replacement chip extractor impeller - help please!

I recently acquired a Kity 694/695 chip extractor to connect to my planer-thicknesser. Unfortunately I was using the extractor to clean up the floor and the workbench when Bang! one of my wooden bench dogs flew up the tube and shattered the impeller. Unfortunately I'd removed the bars guarding...

Split top saw bench - modified design

Ha! No danger of that at the moment. I have long term loaned my circular saw and jigsaw to someone at the other end of the country. I have just acquired a 28" 4tpi handsaw from ebay which looks almost as dangerous though! Using the saw bench is working out well. I have clamped a couple of...

Split top saw bench - modified design

Thanks all. Tierney: thanks for pointing me to the Fidgen saw bench. Interesting idea with the fence, I will see how I go but it would be easy to add. I've done some cross cuts down the rip channel, resting the length of the board on something else and that worked quit nicely. I think if I had...

Split top saw bench - modified design

Thanks Rod! I reckon it certainly should see me out.... and maybe even my 16 month old son too :)

Split top saw bench - modified design

I should add, that obviously, there are MUCH faster ways to make a bench with identical function (involving screws, glue and simpler joints), but at this stage in my woodworking development it was a nice little project and I had fun along the way! Next workshop job is a standard saw horse or two...

Split top saw bench - modified design

I first wanted to make a saw bench when I read the chapter on them at the end of the Schwarz workbench design book. I thought that the splayed legs didn't look ideal, so started thinking about a split top. A bit of web-surfing lead me to the design published online by the Billy's Little Bench...

    Raised panels

Hi Marcros, That is a valid design choice. If you just want to go for a simple raised panel then you can use a bench plane and have a gradual taper from the edge of the field to the edge of the board. Paul Sellers does that on his online toolbox project (subscription required...) and he has a...

    Raised panels

Hi Marcros, Sounds pretty good. I have used a tenon saw to cut across the grain around the centre field before planing the 1/16 drop you plan. I also found it was worth planing along a straight baton to ensure the plane doesn't wander when starting. Your steps 2&3 sounds good. Just don't...

    Bench Grinder for under £100

I have a Creusen grinder and use the Axminster aftermarket tool rest. The surface is quite a bit bigger (wider and deeper) than the supplied creusen one and it locks nice and securely. Havjng said that, I ordered both at the same time so never tried the built in one. I didn't regret my choice...

    Scary Sharp 1950's Style

Thanks Bugbear, now you remind me I do remember reading that post a year or so ago but had forgotten all about it. Interested to hear that it's documented back to the 1920s but I guess it's not that surprising really and probably goes back further than that!

    Scary Sharp 1950's Style

So I may be new to posting around here and realise that sharpening threads can get pretty horrific :P but I thought that people might be interested to take a look at this... Here is a book which came from my mother-in-law, published in 1950: It's a series of projects to get boys (not girls...

    Ash Coffee Table WIP

I got a bit of time today to work on the mortices at the top of the legs to receive the apron tenons. These were chopped with a 3/8" chisel. Next it was time to create the recesses to receive the haunches at the top of the tenons. I marked along to the top of the legs and round the corner...

    cheap workbench?

Miguel, this sounds sensible. I built my bench as my first proper WW project. Like you I don't have any machinery and it took forever! Yes, I now have a heavy bench that I really quite like but it was a long journey to get there. My old man has a Sjobergs bench which is fine. It's not as...

    Ash Coffee Table WIP

I'm currently making a coffee table while loosely following the Paul Sellers / Woodworkingmasterclasses video series. You can see a sketch of the finished table here http://woodworkingmasterclasses.com/2013/02/coffee-table-project-info/. I'm not totally in love with the design but am following...
