Recommendations for ceiling material without needing plaster

... taped and jointed is the system used all over Europe as well. Almost no one plasters ceilings any more. If it is not a concrete system ceiling then it is plaster board with at most a 2 mm skim. You will have no problems at all painting directly onto plasterboard. The only prep it needs is a...

    I'm off to Wembley soon

"ours" - "theirs"....??? I thought the UK exchequer (mostly English tax payers) paid for both?

    Festool trio?

I actually prefer the old Basis system, Festool used to sell separate extrusions that allowed you to link your tables and MFT's together as one huge work station. I think the footprint of the CMS is just too small. I don't think you'd have much trouble finding the Basis table and parts second...

    Festool trio?

Don't forget, if you have the old style Basis Table system as well as the old 1080 MFT, that the new CMS tables are a different height and not compatible! As for the price, the German site has the complete module+router+table for €1543 which is about £1220. I'm sure they will be selling the...

    Festool trio?

I think you might find it's the new mini spindle moulder/table router TF 2200 not the MFT. Have look here :http://www.festool.de/artikel/artikel_weiterleiten.cfm?id=6838 Looks very pretty if you ask me :D

Anybody planning on buying a Trend Airpro ??

Er, no. You are still missing the point. It doesn't have to last only 3 years. You can buy as many filters as you like NOW and for the next THREE years (if the motor is still working by then). It requires some planning but you might be able to get a good five years or more out of it. It's not as...

Anybody planning on buying a Trend Airpro ??

What in God's name are you b*tching about? The filters will be available until the END of 2010. You have THREE years to build up a stock pile of filters if you think you will still be using it more than FOUR years from now. How long does a filter last anyway.... B*tch, b*tch, b*tch. Trend must...

    importing planes

No, no. I'm not trying to start a war! If a company obviously makes a better product then by all means buy it. However, if equivalent products are of the same quality, then buy locally and support your own economy, just as Americans advocate with their "proudly made in the US" stickers. From my...

    importing planes

In a more general vein, why would you want to buy from the US when you can buy tools of the same quality (but without the hype) from Britain? I just don't get it. If there was a local manufacturer of quality tools here in Holland I know which one I would support... I bought my planes from...

Trimming Festool rail splinter guard strip

I've never had any problems trimming my Festool guides and the reason you have a wavy edge you have already answered yourself! Set the depth of cut stop to 2 or 3 mm deeper than the guide rail thickness. Place the guide rail on a flat piece of scrap, plunge cut through the strip and into the...

    Multipoint locks in wooden doors

That seems odd. Are you saying there are better ways of securing a domestic door because I'd like to hear about it. Fitting two or three star multipoint locks is about the only way to achieve Police approval for door security over here. Night latches and rim locks won't even get a single star grade.

    Multipoint locks in wooden doors

I just don't see what will hold the doors flat against the frame. In my mind it would be possible to at least push/pull the doors into a bow shape even if the door doesn't open completely. I think what you are looking at is something like this...

    Multipoint locks in wooden doors

Steve, I took the image from a Dutch lock maker HMB, so probably not much use to you. As Jake said there should be loads around but I don't know many British lock makers and I doubt if Nemef, Lips or Buva are available in the UK. *** I'm still not convinced the hook bolts would work on French...

    Multipoint locks in wooden doors

Hmm, I don't think so. I believe using "hook" bolts instead of rods merely allows adjustability after fitting. French doors and Bifolds use a different multi-lock with stays that exit vertically from the top and bottom of the door. Edit: have a look at this image: Spot the locks top and bottom.

Safety Glasses & Ear Defenders - Comfort & Style

I may be explaining something you already know here, but for anyone else, EN isn't an improvement over BS it merely denotes a British Standard that has been adopted by the European Norm institute. So the original standard was BS 166: 1996 but has been superseded by BS EN 166: 2002. Subcodes...

    Bay window problems

Even better option than car filler is to use "dry flex", an extremely high quality product that is easier to use as well. As Roger says, cut back the rotten wood to sound wood, completely open the joint and then inject the dry flex. Simple and extremely strong...

    cleaning circular saw blades

Sounds very much like Padauk to me. It has a fantastic red colour when fresh cut and a great smell as well. It is sometimes used as an extremely hard wearing flooring as well as in fancy furniture.
