    Does this count?

I read you're short on projects made, so here's a photo of a pergola I helped to make. My neighbour asked me to prepare some Douglas fir, which I did. He then assembled it in a client's garden. Does this count as something I made?

I'm not sure why I did this! Perhaps there's a shrink out there who can explain?

Colleague smashed top of my Festool CT Mini

I have the same model, CTL MIDI GB 240V R, which I purchased 6 years ago. In that time, I've broken the 500118 twice, frustratingly each time within the last 18 months. The first time a 13' scaffold board fell on it. The second time it fell off my bench. Avoid putting it on the bench, but if...

    Nail Guns

... and I think an impact driver would be less expensive than a nail gun!

    Nail Guns

Yes, screws all the way. If for no other reason, it would be so much easier to lift the odd board down the line, since you never know what's around the corner. On the subject of screwing, I'm sure you have a cordless drill, but do you have an impact driver? What's the difference between a...

Rutlands Workbench castors - any good?

Mooose: One of my heroes recommended Coldene for castors Coldene UK Manufacturing so I invested in two sets of four for two heavy benches I made and they've been very reliable. They have quite a selection. I bought an Axminster UJK router table on eBay. It has a castor like the one in your...

    Cordless drill

No-one's mentioned Festool? Okay, they cost a bomb, but I'd like to know their attributes from an end-user's point of view. I like the DeWalt drills I've had for years, but have quite a bit of Festool stuff too. I do like the idea of a small powerful drill, hence my curiosity about Festool's...

I remember the spills; they were multicoloured.

I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

Yeah, BBC. Not BBC1, another channel was a pipe dream.

I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

This was before they put the girl inside the circle. When you fine-tuned the channel you aimed to get the best resolution you could on the bottom rectangles within the circle, realistically impossible with 405 lines :-)

You guys must be heavy drinkers...

Evidently, there were a number of people who ‘invented’ the TV. Wikipedia has an interesting article, quoting Baird and Jenkins as well as Farnsworth. Have a read Let’s not forget John Logie Baird John Logie Baird - Wikipedia

car battery problem, any advice please?

I'm not sure if this is off-topic, but I can thoroughly recommend the CTEK battery charger: https://www.ctek.com/storage/28170E5A4DF8DDE255F2544A55F5C421179A3398C557729443D3E9C908F0382E/d4c71f1fcf354b37bdfb3841d00adafd/pdf/media/01d8e64db81c4259bda89213323dad93/MXS_5.0-manual-low-UK-EN.pdf

Best 6" Random Orbital Sander or should I get a forced rotation (geared) Sander?

Google states the first orbital sander was “introduced in 1976 by Festool”. I have the RO150 and it’s wonderful but, the price makes you weep :-( Now look at ‘Sanding with Festool’, by Peter Parfitt on YouTube. Good luck in your search! Chris
