are there any decent techniques for squaring a chisel blade?

Reggie, where in the UK are you? I'll happily square up your chisels if you're near enough and it's bothering you. That said, the experts above seem to be saying it doesn't matter. My OCD would kick in though if they were mine ;)

Kity 613 bearings - can anyone make replacements?

Thanks for that Ian, much appreciated. What do you need from me and roughly how much will it cost, or does that depend on the measurements first?

Kity 613 bearings - can anyone make replacements?

Hello all, I have this bandsaw and it is a fantastic bit of kit. A friend of mine has now been given one, but the right hand bearing-holders are missing top and bottom. I've googled, but am struggling to find anywhere that will sell replacement parts. He does not to want to upgrade the entire...

    Hollowing Tools

+1 for join (or at least go along to) a club. I got to try 7-8 different systems before buying. FWIW, I ended up with the Big Brother system as that's one which suited me. For me, it's got a lot to do with the handle as well as the tip, so it really is worth trying a few first. I also liked...

    Bandsaw help please

My mate bought a cheap Rexon for around £70 second hand and I thought it would be pants, but having seen it this weekend it actually cuts straight and well and he's had up to 5 inch cuts out of it, albeit lime wood, which is not like oak. I know the smaller Axi's are well thought of and you can...

    Wood turning.

Kev, depending where in Liverpool you are, there's the club I go to in Hawarden near Chester, Woodart Workshops. I don't know of any in Liverpool, but there will be I'm sure. You'd be more than welcome to to Woodart (every other Tues) even if it was just for a look around. PM if you're...

    Correct use of the skew.

Use the bottom third or quarter of the skew and practice slowly moving from rubbing the bevel to bringing the cut on. You should start to see dust or very fine shavings around the bottom point of the skew as the cut comes on. Then practice the planing cut, where you move along the grain, keeping...

    Most popular spindle thread size?

Hi Maverick, I think it depends on what kind of turning you are going to do. 1 x 8 or 3/4 x 16 are common for smaller lathes (think benchtop or midi lathes). 33 x 3.5 and 1 and a half x 6 are more common for larger lathes, but other sizes are obviously available. I suggest checking the Axminster...

Heads up - Wood and tool sale in Ledbury Sat 5th Jan

Greg, a very kind and attractive offer that I'm struggling to resist :) trouble is, I've got no idea how much slab wood goes for, so I can't make any reasonable guesses. If I wasn't in work tomorrow, I might have driven down. If you get anything (and you will I'm sure ;) ), I'd be interested...

Help with Owning & Outfitting my first workshop

Nic, sorry to hear of your wife's condition, I have huge sympathy for you both. Good luck with your research and enjoy whatever machines you end up buying. Some really good deals on end of line machinery on the Axi site at the moment.
