    Night time listening

This is a nice podcast. It’s part of a series called Sleeping Forecast and this episode is a combination of relaxing piano and harp music with descriptions of Japanese joints from a text book read by cate le Bon. Sounds a bit weird but it’s nice...

    Woodworking Youtubers

Hew and Awe. British guy, beautifully made low key videos and a great series on the restoration of a wadkin table saw. Andy Rawls is a Texan furniture maker who is really watchable and knows what he is talking about.

Snipe, what am I doing wrong?

Glad you found this video, I was going to recommend it. Might be worth looking at spring tension if you feel like you are already supporting the board sufficiently.

A deaf persons internal monologue ?

I’ve a friend who lectures I linguistics, I asked him and he said that language is just as much a way of thinking as it is a way of communicating. The conversation went into, if I hear my own voice as an internal monologue, then do deaf users of sign language see their own hands?!?!? This is a...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

This is lovely. Sometimes I see things on this tread that get stuck in my head, this has been in my head for a few days since seeing it. It looks fun to make. I’m going to get stuck in as soon as I finish the castle for Lego figures that I saw on here a few weeks ago! Thanks for posting. Don’t...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A small mitred box made with sycamore, iroko splines and a fabric insert. This feels like a bit of a step forwards for me. When things turn out well this is the most rewarding hobby! Better than I’d hoped but still plenty of mistakes to learn from.

Using a link belt on a planer thicknesser

Thanks for the reply, a low profile hood for the thicknesser makes perfect sense, this is version three, looks like version four is on the way! Did you use the black plastic adapters to attach the hose? something else that i did was to add some ply strips before the infeed roller and after the...

Using a link belt on a planer thicknesser

I had it set up with air flow from the back and a 100mm hose running to my vac at the front. I had three holes at the back and I’ve ended up covering them up when I put in a sloping section to guide the chips. Collection got worse when I added the holes. It just gathered in the hood. I flip it...
