    Women. Who needs 'em...

No problem Bob. Do you prefer blondes or brunettes? Or perhaps you'd like to try the new Variety Pack?

    Women. Who needs 'em...

Found this among SWMBO's shopping yesterday. Throwaway women? Sounds like a market winner... :) Pete

    Hancock's Half Hour

OK Bob. I'll put my hands up! I should have qualified my statement to acknowledge that not all those who fall within those parameters are selfish and whose opinions are valueless. I only have to look at my own kids and grand kids to know that. However, it must be admitted that over the past 40 -...

    Hancock's Half Hour

Actually, I had no one specific in mind at the time I wrote it but you seem to have taken it personally. This says rather more about you than me. Believe me, if I wished to criticize you I would do so quite openly. I am too long in the tooth to bother with innuendo and my diplomacy skills...

    Hancock's Half Hour

Strange that you should have selected this extract from the post. Perhaps it rang bells? :)

    Hancock's Half Hour

If you'll permit an outsider's viewpoint, I don't believe it's a 'regional thing' but a 'generational thing'. Most kids believe they're 'bulletproof' (remember the frightening things we all did when young?). Added to this is the generation born under the sign of Thatcher or later, who then...

    Multi-lane roundabouts

thats Swindon not HH Oops! Wrong pic. Here's the right one. You can still see the observation platform in the centre so this must have been taken when fairly new. Pete

    Multi-lane roundabouts

You would have worried me if you'd said you'd seen it with your own six eyes.

    Multi-lane roundabouts

I remember when they opened this one in Hemel Hempstead back in the 70's. One of those mini-roundabout affairs where you took the shortest route to your exit. I think the first of these was in Colchester but that only had three or four feeder roads. On the first day it started operating, there...

    Plane greedy

Tom, thanks for your input. I watched your two videos with interest but found them a little difficult to hear your voice-over (no doubt due to my poor laptop speakers and my ancient lug'oles :) ). I am pretty much following the same technique as you but using wider abrasive to cover the entire...

    Plane greedy

Update. Here's a pic of the two soles condition after a couple of passes over some 240 grit. Trump's sole (and you thought he didn't have one!) is the lower one and pretty much as you'd expect with the wear in the centre. Trudeau's, apart from being sadly rusted, looks like it has never been...

    Plane greedy

For a moment I thought it was a No 1 (nothing beside it to gauge the size) then I noticed the tote doesn't overhang the base. A mate here in NZ just 'swapped' a No 1 for some bits for an old Chevvy he's re-building. I was spitting tacks when he told me. Pete

    Naming challenge

Cocker-Leg Common ? or if you want to attract a more cerebral kind of dog how's about a Latin tag? Ut Canes Feram (Dogs go wild). Should look nice in wrought iron over the gate. Pete

Love it! Concise and descriptive of what it will undoubtedly turn out to be. Well done Philski =D> Pete

    Plane greedy

C'mon Guys! The names are only so I can differentiate between them while posting descriptions of the restoration. As to naming one of them after the NZ PM, how would I be able to explain to SWMBO when I tell her I've been out in the shop 'fettling Jacinda'? Here's a pic of the two frogs...

    Sharpening Chisels & Planes

Pretty much as Mike said above but I often use wet & dry on glass to polish the bevel as my diamond plates only go up to 1200. Can't say I've had much problem with tearing but I probably would if I was trying to establish a bevel using that technique rather than just polishing. As to glass...

    Plane greedy

In a previous post I said I was looking to add a No 5 or 5-1/2 to my plane collection. Last week I bid for and won two No 5 planes on an on-line auction. The idea was that, if there was any major defect with one, I could cannibalize it for the other. Here are the two planes as they arrived...
