The most frustrating thing you have encountered lately

Got £699 to spare? Apple fan? Why not buy... ...some wheels. Wheels! Seriously, £699 for 4 wheels!!! https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MX572ZM/A/apple-mac-pro-wheels-kit

    Woodwork machinery,

Heating helps. If you can keep the air temperature above the dew point, moisture is a lot less likely to condense out.

    Buying my first bandsaw

Have a look at the Record Power Sabre series. I have the Sabre 350 and it is excellent. There's a Sabre 250 available now if the 350 is too big. The Sabre series have roller bearing guides with tool-free adjustment.

    Mitre Saw

Evolution user here... first corded power tool I ever bought. Used it for building my 'shop, performed flawlessly. Now fitted with an Axminster negative rake fine blade (and reducing ring for the imperial arbor) which produces a very clean cut. Dust collection is woeful but then it's a sliding...

    Pocket jig opinions

Likewise, except I found the UJK drill bit to be very poor, i had 2 bits lose the thin bit on the end in normal use, they just snapped off. Bought Kreg bits instead, haven't had any trouble with them although they are a little bit shorter overall (but I never use pockets in thick stock so that...

Anyone use the 5 cut method to square up a crosscut sled?

You're right of course, I'm just being a picky scientist;) You can't express the error in an angular measurement solely in terms of distance; the two are not dimensionally equivalent. So when the OP asks "what point should I stop chasing perfection and be happy with the result? Am I chasing...

Anyone use the 5 cut method to square up a crosscut sled?

Surely the error - the "unsquareness" - has to be measured in degrees, not mm or thou? Without knowing the length of the test cuts, being 0.x mm out is meaningless.

    Planer/Thicknesser

Thanks, yes, I know the whole beds/fence assembly raises as one. This would be for storage only to lower the overall height of the unit.

    Planer/Thicknesser

Great info, thanks! How easy is the fence to remove/replace if, for example, I had to store the p/t under a countertop that had insufficient clearance underneath to allow the fence to remain attached? Does the overall height reduce by much if the fence remains attached but is lowered to its 45...

    Planer/Thicknesser

Another quick question for anyone owning the iTech 260S, if I may be so bold... With the fence fitted and set at 90 degrees, how high is the overall unit above ground level? Many thanks!

A question about end grain joining...

I have table saw, mitre saw and bandsaw; the only sander I have is a hand held ROS. Of the saws the mitre is the most accurate in terms of squareness. I have a 60 tooth neg rake blade installed which produces a nice finish, I guess if I use that and take steps to eliminate tearout that ought to...

A question about end grain joining...

Thanks for replies. I'm particularly interested in the techniques that might be employed. It looks from the photos in julianf's post as though sanding square is sufficient. Btw I'm not looking to make a worktop, the photo was just to illustrate what I was struggling to describe :) I'm merely a...

A question about end grain joining...

...no, not how to get a strong endgrain joint, but instead how to make the endgrain joins in a (e.g.) worktop gap-free. I'm thinking of using offcuts glued up to make bigger boards, much like so-called solid oak kitchen worktop is made; is it just a case of sanding the ends of the offcuts flat...

    Planer/Thicknesser

Hi, Any chance you could post the width and depth of the base unit please? I have one of these on order and wish to make my own mobile base in advance of delivery (March 2021 so I have plenty of time!!) Thanks in advance.

Sabre 350 bandsaw - quick question

Awesome, thanks  Sounds like a 3/4" x 3/8" slot, perfect.

Sabre 350 bandsaw - quick question

Any Sabre 350 owners out there - can you tell me the height of the cabinet "base" that the thing sits on please (not including any wheels)? Also its width and depth where it meets the main body of the saw? A google has returned nowt but summary overall dimensions. I have one of these saws on...

Helical block for Record Power PT260

Ouch! Just seen the price. The HC260 Shelix + postage is more expensive than a brand new PT260
