Anyone else having a rubbish week?

Solder in the eye sounds pretty nasty! I'm so inpatient I hate waiting to know. I've got my chin up a bit a just bought a few woodworking and fishing mags to pass the time. Better than daytime TV.

    Work van options

I've got a transit connect the higher roof version. It's been faultless so far in about 3 years (it's ex RAC, on about 130k). It's suprising how much you can fit in the back, doors go in diagonally with the cage behind the seats still in place. I haven't carried any 8 by 4 sheets on it as we...

    Bobbin sander

I've got a delta that I use occasionally and it's fine. I wouldn't too much about the gearing as long as you don't use excessive pressure on the spindle I'd think it would be fine.

Anyone else having a rubbish week?

Thanks guys, it's a worse feeling not knowing wether I'm going to see out of that eye again. If the doctors said I just need to heal and my sight will come back I would be happy. But basically all they have said is wait and see. I'm normally a really busy person too so sitting down all day is...

Anyone else having a rubbish week?

I'm having a pretty crap week so far, Monday afternoon I was in work fitting some new joists ( I'm a joiner/supervisor on a large property refurbishment in buxton). I was breaking some slate with a hammer as you do and a piece of slate broke off and hit me in the eye. I went downstairs to the...

    Kitchen work top joining

I would have cut the joint the other way. But you should be ok with it like that, I use colourfil for the glue on joints. You need to make sure you seal all the edges with something decent, I normally sand them down and use a couple of coats of yacht varnish.

Needed quickly......concealed hinge for in-frame doors?

Why don't you just use small butt hinges? They look decent and are easy to fit.

    Sink installation - stretchers

I mount the sink to the worktop before you put the worktop in place. You won't need to cut out for clips they normally don't protrude enough from the worktop to be a worry once tightened.

    Charnwood W650

The blade on mine has no wobble at all. Take it off and start again just to make sure it's on right.

    trend doorhinge jig

I normally just mark the hinges with a stanley, freehand most of the waste out with a router, and clean up the edges with a sharp chisel. For 7 doors there is definately no point buying a jig.

    C16 rafters vs oak?

You could always just clad the ends of the rafters in oak if that's the look you're after.

My bosch came with a guide bush. Not used it yet though

    Boxing in boilers

If its a modern combi there's normally no need for ventilation, do check the manufacturers guidelines. Material wise I would use Mrmdf. I would leave enough room for easy maintenance or make the boxing in easily removable.

    Kitchen

If you're painting them then use MRMDF if not use birch ply.

Building regs experts - new door in a flat - fire door?

Needs to be fire door. When ever I've worked on flats, everything apart from the bathroom door needs to be a fire door.

    one for any plumbers

Why not just ask the plumber did he fix the leak before he siliconed it? Chances are he did.

    Attic storage

Looks good. I would have put three hinges on each door though.
