Wish Rutlands would stop emailing me their offers :)

I'd been after a couple of sash clamps for a while but had been holding off due to lack of funds, then what do you know, 6 come along at once! https://www.rutlands.co.uk/hand-tools/c ... ash-clamps

oilstone or water stone and what grade combination to get?

unfortunately I can't afford a grinder. My father in law has quickly ground off the damage on his cheap grinder but let's just say his level of precision is slightly less than I'd go for!I don't find the waterstones that messy i put down a small piece of anti-slip mat, put the tupperware lid on...

oilstone or water stone and what grade combination to get?

I'm thinking of a waterstone. And if there are precise grits, why not find out which one to use in a particular scenario :?: I get the coarse, medium, fine thing. I just want to know how coarse i need to go whilst still being able to remove scratches with the medium 1000g. Is 220 too coarse...

oilstone or water stone and what grade combination to get?

I have a couple of old chisels that are either damaged or need the bevel angle changing. What grit should i get to dress these before hitting the 1000g? Cheers Dave.

I hate the smell of a router motor burning in the morning!

I managed to get through to Bosch today, they offer free collection, quotation and return. Pretty good service! Let's just hope it's not something too expensive although the burning smell and smoke does make me thing it's the motor. When I bought it just over 3 yrs ago it was £220, it's now...

oilstone or water stone and what grade combination to get?

You know, I'd always been a bit 'scared' of sharpening, thinking it was some kind of mystical art. But thanks to advice here and online videos I'm really pleased with the results on my new Ashley Iles chisels, and my 6mm Narex. I splashed out on the Veritas Mk II honing guide which for somebody...

That's a thought! not sure, must be around 3 years. Would I have needed to register or would i need the receipt?

I hate the smell of a router motor burning in the morning!

Yep, i cut deeper than that in mahogany and maple frequently. I imagine it will cost a bomb, but if i could figure out what parts to replace, maybe i could do it cheaply? There are a number of websites showing parts diagrams of the motor and the parts aren't too pricey.

I hate the smell of a router motor burning in the morning!

actually, I just checked, it was 4mm deep with a 3/4" straight cutter, 1/2" shank but just cutting with half the width of the cutter. i've run it with no load and it's no better and still smells.

I hate the smell of a router motor burning in the morning!

There I was, listening to the footy, working on my daughter's first bed. I'd finally got round to using my Jessem Router table for the first time, using the fence, featherboards and everything, I was really going to town! Then after about 10cm of routing in pine (depth of just 8mm), the motor...

Recommendations for a 6mm mortice chisel.

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

I went for the £70 Pax in the end, more than enough saw for my needs. I totally understand the point of buying from ebay and sharpening and I'd like to learn how to do it but there're too many other things lined up to do/learn at the moment so i just wanted something i can use out of the box...

Recommendations for a 6mm mortice chisel.

The chisel has just arrived, looks good apart from a mark/indentation half way down that almost feels like it's two lengths of steel joined together. is this ok?

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

HAs anyone used the Lynx one with the beech handle from Flinn's? Just over £50 http://www.1066tools.co.uk/tools/Lynx_T ... andle.html At the moment I think I'm leaning towards the PAx for £70, can't really justify anymore as I won't be using it that often.

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

So that may be the one to get. Is there any reason why I couldn't just reshape that handle if I wanted to?

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

Worth thinking about, thanks. Yeah, i currently have one of those Irwin saws, it's fine for what it is.

Help choosing a Tenon Saw please.

So if i take a punt on ebay I could be the proud owner of one of your knackered old saws! How come you haven't sharpened it? Like I keep saying, i NEED something new for immediate use. My little 2 year old needs that bed fast! Thanks for all the input though Jacob :D

    Drum sanders for drills

The Carroll ones are the only ones I'd bother with and they work best with cloth backed paper.
