It's a single phase motor. The N L was marked was marked by myself .there was an element of doubt but I thought the the two lives lined up accross the bloCk.

I did notice the thread in the motor shaft. Perhaps this bolt was lost or broken and somebody has drilled a grub screw like you said. Depending on the rotation of the motor I guess that will determine whether it's a female/thread. I ve never seen a grub screw through the key, just drill and tap...

my one is slightly different, yours looks like it could be a modification. I'm slightly confused why the grub screw us shearing under the key - that looks like upwards thrust to do that or maybe the key is loose in the key way? Is there a key .....it should be a snug fit

Well the cheap diamond dresser works a treat although creates a lot of dust. Anyway, I turned some wooden cones with a 1/4" tenon, glued the dressed residue to the cone and used it to hone my mortice chisels!

Ive ground a pair of cutters and they are absolutely identical in shape. The problem is one weighs 54g and the other is 56g :( to balance these is there a correct place to grind some weight off?
