    Online Auction ...Ends Tomorrow

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but... has anyone actually used Bidspotter? In order to register, you need to provide card details, which immediately made alarm bells ring. Thanks

When did elektra beckum stop making stuff in Germany?

Thanks for the info. Anyone have any clue as to how to ID if something is pre or post shanghai?

When did elektra beckum stop making stuff in Germany?

Hi, as per title, any idea how to tell if an EB product was built in Germany or China. New stuff is painted blue, rather than green - is that the giveaway? I'm interested in a Bas 315, but not if it was made in China, but I can't see a "made in..." label on there. Also, the motor is...

Value range Products- Why so Terrible packaging for them?

I like it. Most supermarkets have a value/budget range, a "normal" range, and a finest/best. I honestly believe that the majority of "value" and "normal" items are exactly the same thing, just in different packaging and a different price. If people want to judge me for what I put in my...

    roof condensation :-(

Interesting. Mine's damp all winter, whether I'm in there or not. And when I am working in there, the door is wide open. F*** you, winter.

    WIP: a Smoker's bow

    That's coming along lovely.

    roof condensation :-(

You could always do it in stages? The mess is from where it drops straight down, unlike e.g. dust that spreads everywhere. So you could do it half/quarter at a time

    roof condensation :-(

I got some spray foam for my garage roof. It was 200 quid if memory serves. It made a hellish mess to apply, but fixed the problem. I still get condensation on the steel cross beams, so need to apply some more. But on the covered panels, it worked a treat.

    Sash Clamps

I may get shot down in flames here, but I bought some Silverline ones from Toolstation, and they're good enough for my needs. Steel ones, not the aluminium ones.

    Willow 3-wheel bandsaw - anyone had/used one?

As per the title, I've seen several Willow 3-wheel bandsaws come up for sale, but I know nothing of the company. Has anyone had use of one of these, and if so, how are they? I'm looking to upgrade my Chinese-built Jet. What I'd like is an old cast iron machine that's going to be worth keeping...

Coronet Major - morse taper stuck

Hi Sorry for the radio silence - been far too cold and dark to venture down to the workshop after work, so I'm going to attack it at the weekend. Thanks all for the replies/advice/suggestions

Coronet Major - morse taper stuck

I believe it's the 3/4 x 16tpi, as that is apparently what my old Clarke was, and the faceplate etc are interchangeable. The spindle has a hole at the back, but I don;t know if it goes all the way through, as I don;t have anything small and sturdy enough to poke through... no jokes, please ;-)...

Coronet Major - morse taper stuck

Thanks all. It is possible to tap the drive with a drift, but it's at a bit of an angle, so not sure how effective it is. Levering with a spanner is a good idea, I'll try that with a bit of heat. Thanks again

Coronet Major - morse taper stuck

Hi As per the title, a 4-prong drive has got stuck. I've tried twisting with grips, but it's just chewing the steel of the drive. I understand that some lathes use a long thin drift that pokes in through the headstock to tap them out. However, the hole in my Coronet looks way too small to...

    Bandsaw Blade Length

I use axcaliber blades. I had one recently that just wouldn't go on the machine, even when slackened to the max. An email to Axminster and a replacement was received the very next day. Good blades, great service.

Building a workbench out of softwood?

Wickes timber is much much better than bandq. At least, it is at my local stores. I used 95mm (or thereabouts) Wickes softwood for the legs on my bench, and it's fine. A bit of 3/4 ply across the back and I couldn't get it to rack if I wanted to. Another bit of ply across the bottom...

    Bathroom cabinet building, what materials?

Anyone tried tropical hardwoods (teak and the like) in bathrooms? If it can survive as the deck on a ship, would it cope with my damp bathroom? Or an expensive fail?

    Multico bandsaw spares?

Hi Anyone know where spares can be obtained for old Multico bandsaws? In particular, the Pro Mex model? I've googled but without success. Thanks

Cutting a slot in copper pipe

I know I'm late to the party, and that you've already completed the task (and very neatly too!), but I've done similar using one of these: http://www.frost.co.uk/professional-she ... blade.html It doesn't give an absolutely perfectly straight cut, as your hand inevitably wanders a little, but...
