    Why do I get condenstation

Not quite, what I'm saying is that air movement speeds up the process, so moving wet air could create more condensation than still air, whereas moving dry air will dry quicker than still dry air. Moving air speeds up the process, but doesn't determine which way the exchange will go. I know you...

    Why do I get condenstation

I think I'm 100% sure that this is not quite true. For it to be true the moving air needs to be dry enough to do the job. If the air's not moving then a wet object will be surrounded by air at near to 100% RH. Moving air clears that away and replaces it with new air. However if the air is...

Buying a router from Ebay - fate or just bad luck?

I absolutely agree, talk about putting your head over the parapet!!!

Buying a router from Ebay - fate or just bad luck?

That's good advice. A check of feedback would have steered me away from the first guy who was clearly quite happy to rip people off.

    Sharpening Stanley 071 router cutters

Hi, I saw some tantalising references to a jig to help with sharpening these little beggars, but couldn't find the actual article or post. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Funny thing is that I had them beautifully sharpened, but its ages since I've used the router and I can't...

Buying a router from Ebay - fate or just bad luck?

Hi, I'm starting to think I am fated to live life without a second router for the table. (unless I do something rash like go into a shop and buy a brand new one of course). One of my few Ebay rip-offs was a so-called Elu 177E. When it arrived it was a poor condition Elu 131 fixed speed...

    Cheap planes

Opps a bit more digging (so I don't retract my "well hidden" comment ... On Paypal's "About Us" subsection "Legal Mentions" .... "The PayPal service is offered by: PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. & Cie, S.C.A. (“PayPal Europe”) 5th Floor 22-24 Boulevard Royal L-2449, Luxembourg (+352) 27 302 143...

    Cheap planes

Everything other than that phone number is well hidden on Paypal that's for sure. Do they get away with it because they're not a UK company? On their "About Us" page ... "PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. & Cie, S.C.A is duly licenced as a Luxembourg credit institution in the sense of Article 2 of...

    Insulation for metal workshop roof

Do you mean sprayed in place? Or sheets of foam?

    Insulation for metal workshop roof

OW, I understand your explanation, but I think its probably a non starter for my building, unless I take the steel sheets right off and rebuild the woodwork. As it stands the roofing sheets come right down to the masonry at the eves, and I really can't think of any way that would allow them to...

    Insulation for metal workshop roof

That makes more sense of the calculations. I found it quite hard to find U for plain steel, I guess not many people are interested in that, but on the other hand it can't really be infinite either. At the moment I don't get condensation on the roof, but then I'm not able (or trying) to raise...

    Insulation for metal workshop roof

Thanks again. Could I ask you to put me straight on U values and what that means in relative terms? I quick Google suggest that plain steel cladding would have a U of 1.2 - and that's watts, per square metre, per degree - does that sound correct? If so, assuming my building's 4m from eve to...

    Insulation for metal workshop roof

Thanks for the responses. I was thinking maybe I could fit insulation boards as a snug fit between the purlins, held in place by battens on the sides of the purlins. Maybe duct tape between the boards and the purlins as well to seal the gaps before the battens are fitted. That would leave...

    Insulation for metal workshop roof

Hi, My shed has a metal roof, that modern squared corrugation stuff, not sure what its official name is. The sheeting's screwed onto timber purlins. What I was wondering, is whether there's anyway to add insulation to this sort of roof as a retrofit. I'm concerned that if I do it wrong...

    Replacements blades for old Stanleys

One disadvantage is that the slot for the adjuster is in a different place compared to standard cap irons. On my smoother this means that I can only just retract the iron far enough, and the adjuster mechanism works at a funny angle. Make sure that your plane can cope.

    If could only have

I think I'd really like a side rabbet plane of some sort.

    High Humidity...dehumidifier or vents??

Under those conditions ventilation on its own is going to do nothing to reduce the RH inside, unless you have some heat as well. 5 deg temperature rise inside compared to out would drop that to 65% or so.

Jeepers, 90lb! I used to use a 42lb target bow that was pretty consistent up to 100 yards. Now I know why the longbow that I tried gave such a kick!

    Router table insert

This deal is getting better and better! Only problem, since this is for a "future" project, I'm not sure if its going to be a Triton TRA001 or an Elu 177 (or a DW625 but I assume that's the same as the Elu)

Thanks. I think the voting may be because I hit the "see results" button earlier, just out of vulgar curiosity.
