    Wood Glue

Basic question please. Does wood glue have a shelf life, i.e. does it deteriorate with age? I can't see anything referring to a 'use-by' date anywhere on any of the containers. I know for sure that what I have in the cupboard is a few years old. Many thanks.

    Question on Wood Dye please

Well I'm back folks. Have had to deal with a bit of an emergency with the dog. Had to get him up to Bristol for an op on a damaged disc, hence the delay in getting back to this thread. Anyway the upshot is, I have given all of the timber a thorough going over with a lint free cloth soaked in...

    Question on Wood Dye please

Thank you cammy9r, I'm going to try to wipe it over this morning and will keep my fingers crossed for a good result. If I lose some of the colour from this 'wiping', could I then re-coat with your recommended product, or wouldn't that work now. Thanks again.

    Question on Wood Dye please

Thank you for your input Just4Fun. My main problem at the moment is, can I get rid of this very slight tackiness in some way or, can I simply apply 2 or 3 coats of varnish and, if I do, will it harden off OK?

    Question on Wood Dye please

Hello folks, sorry for delay in getting back. The dye that I have used is definitely not an oil based product, it is just like water really, just need to shake the tin before using. In the application instructions on the tin it says that further coats can be applied as long as there is suction...

    Question on Wood Dye please

What you say sounds logical Brian. Do you think that I need to wait until there is absolutely no sign of tackiness before applying the varnish or, is it possible that the varnish may help the drying process? Thanks again for your input.

    Question on Wood Dye please

Thank you for coming in on this. I tried to get hold of some Colron as recommended in one of the replies to my thread but I couldn't find any locally. I ended up using Blackfriars. As I said earlier, I'm very pleased with the resulting colour but, and I have just checked again now, there still...

    Hand Plane

Thanks folks for the help and guidance with this. It's much appreciated. It would be nice if I can eventually sell these items to someone who will appreciate and use them. The problem seems to be arriving at what would be considered a fair price for each item. The Henry Disston saw is a D8...

    Help with repair please

My daughter has a lovely large dining table and it has become damaged in several places and, I would like to be able to put it right if possible. Hopefully you will be able to see the image that I have posted OK. I think that the damage is caused by heat rather than stains. The finish appears...

    Removing marks/stains

I am wanting to sell a couple of bits of oak furniture that belonged to my late mother. Both of the items have a couple of 'ring' marks on them and, I don't know if these are heat marks or water marks. Is there a definite way of telling what the damage is and, what action can be taken to...

    Scheppach ts2500 Ci query

Ok Myfordman, many many thanks for trying though. I did do a search for 'manatmna' but didn't come up with anything.. The problem is so very frustrating as I know that taking the switch apart and then putting it back together will eventually get it going again, even though I don't do anything...

    Scheppach ts2500 Ci query

Hello again, thank you so much for trying to help with this problem. The switch box has green and red buttons on the front of it. When I take it apart, in the first section is a small circuit board with lots of very small transistors on it (at least I think that they are transistors), there is...

    Scheppach ts2500 Ci query

When I press the green start button absolutely nothing happens, no sounds, no clicking.....nothing. What is a full DOL starter ? The green button does move the inner contact, I can see that when I take the switch apart. I haven't tried to get it going manually with a stick though. Thanks for...
