I’ve seen some mentions of ‘tenting’ when chiselling, something I believe was taught by David Charlesworth. It’s meant to protect the sharp edge of the joint I think. Does anyone have any pointers on how best to use this? I can’t find David’s videos except on secondhand DVD.

I'm looking to acquire a better spokeshave to replace a cheap knock-off of a Stanley 151 which is a pain to adjust (never mind keep sharp). Any advice on what to look for? Happy to buy second-hand and touch it up, just quite a few models out there from Record and Clifton, or a newer Quangsheng...

Are bench cookies (bought or homemade) useful? I’ve not had issues with sliding especially when using a piece of leather on the bench, but always open to new ideas!

I’m a fan of tack cloths after fine sanding. As Ollie said don’t push down, use them like a duster. They’re less good for getting into tight spaces as some of the wax can come off them. For small jobs you can fold them back into the packaging and as long as they airtight and don’t try out you...

One other suggestion I'd think about the perception of your brand and whether it speaks to the quality you provide. You may be able to manage the front end pipeline of jobs to put off those on a lower budget and increase your 'win rate'. In my experience a polished website, professional domain...

Great advice - quality differences can be intangible and hard to understand for many. Showing the difference with a demonstration helps immensely. I'd recommend three options - essentially a gold, silver and bronze. I suspect most people will end up taking the middle or top-quality options...
